The harsh realities of Cold War paranoia hit home for one screenwriter in Frank Darabont's 'The Majestic.' Starring Jim Carrey as Peter Appleton in his first non-comedy role, this 2001 drama pits a young man against the perils of McCarthyism and the politics of the Red Scare. His trials include being blacklisted from Hollywood due to accusations of ties with Communism, and suffering amnesia from an automobile accident. Appleton's adventures include being mistaken for a long lost war hero, during which he renovates a theater known as the Majestic. The DVD version of this movie was released in 2002 and runs for 152 minutes.

I Iove Jim Carrey in this film and I am not usually a fan. He is perfect!
It is a great movie that I have paid to rent several times and I just had to have my own copy. It is a feel good film and it has a wonderful story line. I also love the time period following WWII.

Jim Carey's not my favorite, though I have enjoyed some of his movies. THIS movie, however, is WORTH WATCHING!!! What a wonderful story line, great acting, great patriotic theme...just a GREAT MOVIE!!!
