If you're after Peace of mind from a quality MPPT Solar Charger that looks after your battery reliably then Renogy is it!, My second purchase (Rover Li) last week is for inside the house (for wireless cctv+lighting) & the first (Rover PG) is for the shed used exclusively for wireless cctv running on a powerful AGM 12V Battery 24/7 to cover our acreage property. Quality construction, great features EXCELLENT product! Don’t be fooled into buying a cheap solar controller.
You pay for what get. I originally bought a cheaper solar controller wich blew up a deep cycle battery. When the renogy solar controller arrived I was amazed at the difference. Its made to last. Large Aluminium heat sink, lots of features and the its quality of construction is second to none. Has a temperature lead to attach to battery if the battery overheats. Very solid piece of gear.
Re the 30 amp model. Once seen, others have accused me of over engineering my caravans needs. However this is an extreemly well made solid piece of kit in comparison to others I have seen. The Blue Tooth to smart phone is a must have if you travel and don't want to be peering in a cupboard at the small screen on the unit every time you stop so as to see whats happening electrical wise in the van. Set and forget battery charging
I have this set up as battery maintaining for 2x Century Marine batteries and a 250W solar blanket. MPPT regulating is the way to go. I can leave this set up for a week or more knowing boat batteries have been on float and fully charged for next outing. A true mppt charger at a reasonable price. Vast improvement over cheaper pwm chargers. Beware of cheaper chargers which claim to be mppt - many are using this term but are in fact only using pwm technology and will not achieve the same current delivery as this one. Size could be smaller and the company should build in the bluetooth option rather than offer an addon. Display backlighting would also be helpful. Build quality and instructions are excellent.
