This is the last film my brother saw before he passed away. We were life long film lovers, and, particularly films from the 1970’s which we lived in from ages 10-20. He described director Robert Aldrich as a Hollywood professional who wasn’t afraid to go against the status quo. He made entertaining movies that were also interesting and thought provoking including Kiss Me Deadly, The Dirty Dozen , Ulzana’s Raid , and The Longest Yard. This is another one. An imprisoned , rogue U. S. General who served in Vietnam 🇻🇳 escapes then hijacks a nuclear missile silo using a motley crew of both ideologists and thugs, and threatens to launch 🚀 a missile at USSR ( this was the seventies, remember?) which could and probably would result in a nuclear holocaust for everyone. His only demand? The President of the U. S. has to admit to the American public that the sole motive for the war was to make large corporations rich by spending huge amounts of money on the military. Mayhem and tragedy ensue. Includes another memorable role for Burt Lancaster among others, as the general and Charles Durning ! as the president. Richard Widmark is a heavy of course. Enjoy! Another 70’s gem.

  • Good movie but average video quality

I played the Blu-ray on a 4K DVD, however the video quality was still not up to a Blu-ray standard.
