This is a great compilation that really showcases Phil Collins's brilliance and versatility. It's not a typical PC release, since Phil does not sing on all tracks. On a number of tracks, he plays drums, but as always, he does it so incredibly well; it's additional proof that he's one of the best drummers of all time. He also plays with numerous other musical legends here, which makes this collection extra special.
One thing that was omitted for some reason is his collaboration with Bruce Hornsby. It's not a concern for me, since I'm also a huge Bruce Hornsby fan (he's also brilliant) so I already have these tracks, but someone who doesn't is missing out. Perhaps there will be a Volume 2 someday, which includes these tracks. I'll gladly it to my collection.
"Pick Up the Pieces" is a real highlight; it's 21 minutes long, but a real joy to listen to. PC plays his heart out on the drums as always, & it's pure bliss!
The low point of this collection is "In the Air Tonite" (Lil' Kim & PC). As someone who really dislikes rap/hip hop, this song is everything I don't want in a PC song. The original version of this PC song is a masterpiece. This version completely ruins the song.
Overall, this is a great compilation; anyone who appreciates Phil Collins's talent & brilliance will really enjoy this.
