  • Wonderful historical fiction on race and wealth in America

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. JP Morgan is a pretty universal name that I’ve been aware of most of my life but I never thought of a person, just the entity. To give that wellI known company a personal side made me feel I was learning new things about an old acquaintance. I found the “pass” term interesting and terrifying. I was so afraid for Belle’s discovery. I didn’t know about JP Morgan’s exclusive library which was interesting. Belle’s knowledge and perseverance and guts were amazing She had so much at stake. Both storylines were interesting to me, the institution and the games that went on there and the race issue. I wonder what JP would have done had he learned his Belle was “colored”.

Have not gotten much into the book. The print is very small, making it hard to read but the book is in excellent condition

  • Only 1 written was needed to write the story.

A remarkable time to be able to accomplish passing off as white…and…to JP Morgan! The negative for me was too much fictional dates for no purpose to a remarkable career. Belle didn’t deserve that….
