Stella Deus: The Gate of Eternity is a good example of a tactical strategy game. There are several different classes you can use to create your army, so there's some variety in how you deploy forces. Of course, you can only use 6 at a time, so there isn't that much variety you can have. The storyline is interesting and the voice acting isn't bad at all, but sometimes the characters are just too cliche. Also, Battles are very dependent on the level of your characters, so if you decide to recruit a bunch of 'em, then you'll likely spend alot of time leveling them up, which can get monotonous. That being said, I've definitely enjoyed playing this game. It's solid, entertaining, and definitely worth playing, though it isn't exactly innovative.
Ok, Stella Deus is another Final Fantasy Tactics wannabe game but, for the Playstation 2. I actually searched a long time for this game but, was very disappointed. The graphics are good and then in some ways they are not. They tend to look crappy during battles but, the movie cutscenes are very nice like the opening movie when the game starts up (My only favorite part of this game). The voice acting is horrible in this game and that is where it lost me. The main bad guy just doesn't convince me at all and is very boring. The rest of the characters are average at best. The battles can be very hard and frustrating at times. Like in one particular mission you have to defeat the annoying lacky and ignore all the other 15 enemies who attack and use up all your energy needed for you big attacks, then killing your characters before you can even get to the main guy that you are suppose to defeat. If you are lucky and some how make it then he just kills you off since he gets 3 major blows in a row on any character who gets close to defeating him. It may just be me but, there are better RPG strategy games like Growlanser, Final Fantasy Tactics, I heard Suikoden Tactics was suppose to be decent, and probably more that I don't know about. Don't waste your money on this game unless you have money to waste! That's the only advice I have for you!Read full review
The game has your normal plot of needing to save the world. The gameplay was very much like a strategy RPG along the lines of Final Fantasy Tactics. I found the game to become monotonous and time consuming. This was because to get the best weapons you needed to spend hours doing fusions and fighting in the catacombs to improve your characters. It had nice CG, but I found the vocals boring. Overall for me it was an okay game, but for someone who likes doing every little thing with a game this is a game for you.
Ok, so this game has very good character design, as expected of Atlus, and the movies are pretty awesome (graphics just like ones in the PSP version of FF Tactics, although I don't know what that style is called). The actual battles are interesting, in that there is a balance between movement and action. Whether you move or attack or whatnot, they all consume AP, so if you want to move far away, then you won't have enough points to do anything else. However, the game looks very dull graphically. There is almost nothing colorful anywhere, so you are stuck looking at rather depressing colors throughout the whole game. I guess they somewhat fits with the story, but I get sleepy after playing for a while. And the worst part of the game is the voice acting. All characters are devoid of emotions, and a character would sound the same whether they are enraged or delighted. Overall, not a bad game. But considering other entries by Atlus or turn based strategy games out there, this is certainly not the best.Read full review
Stella Deus, release by Atlus, is another run of the mill SRPG (strategy RPG). This is normally not a bad thing, as there are many SPRGs that use a basic default system and turn out to be really good. However Stella Deus managed to fumble that ball badly. To start the only way to really level is to use an extra dungeon that is accessible from the start of the game. By the third to fourth map of this game you will have seen ALL the available jobs that the game has to offer. New equipment is governed by chapters, so it is not available unless you go to the higher levels of the extra dungeon (which happens to have a preset level cap for each chapter). The missions are bland as most of them are reoccuring and recycled with time. There are no individual shops between towns whatsoever, which can be a plus but tends to water down the diversity. The story however is fairly interesting but nothing that would shake the foundations of storyism for any RPGs. Very monotone, new attacks are governed by class upgrades which seem to happen every other chapter. Maps seemed to be redigested half of the time as well. I might be bashing this too much, as this games formula is solid. However, being able to see ALL of the classes from the moment you set out till the first or two knocks down any willingness to start scraping for secrets and goodies. The most linear SRPG i have ever played.Read full review
I'll keep this review short and sweet. This game is more of a success than a failure. The battle mode is pretty standard as far as this genere goes, but what really seperates this from others is that the menus and combat are very streamlined. A person can pretty much pick this game up and within a half hour or so get the combat down. I'll admit that the voice over work is sub-par, and the graphics seem a little dated, but given what the developers were trying to acheive, it dosen't seem so bad in retrospect. In the end what you get is a just better than average turn based stratey game, that is far more of a hit than a miss.
Stella Deus: The Gate of Eternity turned out better than I thought it was going to. The storey was easy to follow and quite enjoyable. Also get ready to put some time in to the game. Its going to keep you occupied for a least 30 hour. The only thing I did not like about the game was the simple fact things got vary repetitive at the end. Other than that I would say it was a good game for some one that’s into S.R.P.G.
I love the PS2 I'm a PS2 Die Hard fan and I've been trying to get my hands on this game for a very long time brings back good memories

It is a good game very easy to use not as complex as so many games that out now on ps3 The role-playing and strategy games are more complex now than it was before I just wanted a break and just to play a simple role playing game
