The 7300 is full of options all the bells, Over all for a single unit it is one of the best on the market today in the $1000.00 price range. I have had a small problem with my dvd video but had it fixed . If you are looking for power and video functions this is the one . Many concerns with the multi room functions I havent had any so far . If you want to just buy an additional reciever that way your covered. I combined the 7300 with the CVsat system then added 4 additional sat speakers . It is like having a concert in my home every day of the week. This reciever has a soft warm sound not to mention the clear high notes it is amazing . If you want better you will have to purchase seperates then you are realy going to have to part with some bucks. (THIS IS THE DEAL OF A LIFE TIME) Thanks HK& EBay for offering these quailty avr products for cheapRead full review
I have owned several different receivers, but none that would compare with the 7300. Beyond excellent sound and more power than I would ever use the home theater sounds better than going to the movies and also upconverts your video signals to 1080I just an incredible machine. The only thing I dislike is it does not have a port for my turntable and no midrange adjustment, but that is pretty common these days. I would recomend this receiver to even the very high end customer.
The 7300 was suggested by a friend to be a good receiver to use for a home theater setup. I have not gotten deep into the tuning of the receiver, but teamed up with the Cerwin-Vega speakers, I have yet to be disappointed in any way. It is a lot easier to tune when you use the On-Screen-Display and have the menu of choices displayed on the TV. I started out by doing a general setup of the speakers and was really pissed at first that everything sounded horrible. Spend a little time adjusting levels and settings and you'll have a much better sound. Unfortunately due to where I live I have not been able to experience the true power and capability of this receiver.
This is the mother-ship of all things stereophonic. It is the best sounding receiver I have ever owned. My use is more for digital audio(dolby digital, etc.) and music than video, but it has excellent video technology as well. On screen displays allow you to navigate through set up as easily as possible. The learning curve is pretty steep, because the amp does so much, but once you get it down, its not too bad. Bottom line is if you want a powerful amp to drive quality speakers and produce great sound, you cannot go wrong with this receiver. It is HUGE, so check the dimensions and make sure you have enough room.
This AVR has a ton of power. I bought a HK AVR about 15 years ago and never had a problem with it however it was time to up grade. I have heard a ton of good things about Yamaha and thought I would give them a shot. I bought the top of the line flag ship Yamaha and could not wait to get it hooked up. What a disappointment. My speakers had no bass at all. In fact I blew my first speaker EVER trying to crank it up just to make it sound like my 15 year old HK AVR 25II. I put it back in the box after a week of messing with it and came to the conclusion that there is no comparison and sold it on Craigslist. I then researched to find the most powerful HK out there. I came up with the AVR 7300. It did not have the HDMI plugs on the back however, I run the HDMI out of my blue ray to the TV and the optical out of the blue ray to the AVR. This amp was everything that I was looking for in power and sound. It is able to hit the really low notes and shake my house. To me, there is nothing like having a ton of bass when watching a movie so you can actually feel the explosions and the AVR 7300 can deliver. I do not run a powered sub so I rely on the amp to power my 2 15' and 2 12'. This amp is AWESOME and I love it!!!Read full review
Pros: :-)) Sound quality is beyond compare. This is my fourth receiver. Have used Sony, Onkyo and Denon. I am using this with Polk RTi Series speakers setup for 7.1 surround,Toshiba SD9200 Audio/ Video DVD player and Philips 30" HDTV. Used Sonic Boom Audio DVD for my tests. I now hear sounds which were missing from the previous three receivers, but I need to stress that they were all 100 W or less per channel and so there is no apples to apples comparison. The setup provides a great "upsampling" feature for certain Dolby Digital modes, which allows an an incoming 48KHz digital source to be procesed at 96KHz. And yes, I noticed an improvement in audio clarity. Sounds fishy... right... I thought so too when I read about it, but after I switched this feature on and off a couple of times I know someone at Harman Kardon deserves a bow. Regular FM has never sounded better. CLARITY. The learning remote is really friendly. The Philips TV was absolutely obstinate with all the remote codes I tried, so I finally put it's remote head to head with the 7300 remote and let it steal all the "valuable" Philips codes. Now I control my DVD player, receiver and TV with one remote. Have'nt added the cable box remote codes yet, but I guess that will be easy. The Faroudja Video upconverter works great on the S-video and Composite signals, moving them up to 480p. The receiver provides for 7.1 analog inputs, but my Toshiba DVD player has 5.1 analog outputs, so i'm not using two channels for now, but now I have options....maybe need to invest in another high end DVD Audio player..not even sure its out there !! All the fancy new modes Prologic II, IIx, NEO 6 work fine. I prefer the DD 5.1, DTS , ES or EX if available and mostly stick to the 5.1 analog inputs. The speaker connections are very well SYMMETRICALLY laid out at the back and give the banana plugs breathing space. Speaking of speakers, the receiver provides for FOUR sets of crossover frequencies for the sub. One each for the fronts, center, rears and surrounds. Now about the weight. It's heavy. I mean HEAVY. One good thing is, the huge TOROIDAL transformer ( yes you can see a bit of it thru the top ), a.k.a the huge doughnut as per my son, sits bang in the center of the chassis, so that helps in weight distribution. From my college days, I know the toroidal design increases transformer efficiency, and limits radiation of its magnetic field. I did read somewhere there are TWO transformers used in this receiver. One ( I guess the big toroidal ) powers the front L, R and C channels, and the other handles the rear channels. The receiver gets hot and has a built in fan. I did use an external fan with the Sony and later with the Denon, and am glad to get rid of it. The internal fan noise is noticeable initially, but gradually fades way and I do not notice it after some 10 mins. Cons: :-(( The EzSet feature provided on the remote for auto setup of speaker levels did not meet my expectations. I finally did a manual adjustment. Maybe one of these days I'll get a SPL Meter from Radioshack. The tone levels are global to all modes, so whether I'm using a DTS or a DD signal, or any of the CD, TV etc inputs, I'm stuck with the same tone controls. So I have just disabled this feature. The OSD monitor output does not work when I'm using the Component monitor out connections to my TV, AND I'm providing a 480p signal to one of the component inputs. Works fine when I provide a SVideo or Composite input. Thanks.Read full review
This massive receiver has many features found in much, much more expensive components. First, the toroidal power transformer is extremely quiet and is found in the best components. The Farujda video processing makes a huge difference if you choose to sent video signals through the Receiver. The exclusive surround modes really add to my enjoyment of the music. Harman/Kardon is absolutely the BEST to work with as well!
i'm sure this unit could be everything but i live in dallas tx and no center is qualified! i can't get the rear channels to come on and no one is able to help. i don't care how good equip is, your products no better than your service. h/k needs to have a better training program for serv centers so they are qualified, like bring them to home office service for crown. i'm very disappointed in this area it's not fair to the equip, i'm sure it's a small problem but everyone is a factory service center, but no one has been trained. it's pretty expensive equip not to have better service representation. i don't know what to do with this equip , it's to nice to give away but then it's not working right. thanks troy
i have owned sony, onkyo, denon receivers, and the 7300 kicks butt looks amazing , sounds crispy clear , and deep bass.i will never get rid of this receiver, i love it its very heavy, its suppose to be if you want some power! no complains, if i die, i will take it with me!
just perfect in all ways sound is unmatched so clear and the little things you hear now.. power that it offers and the and the over all quality need i say more..
