SynopsisDiscovered in the attic in which she spent the last years of her life, Anne Frank's remarkable diary has since become a world classic--a powerful reminder of the horrors of war and an eloquent testament to the human spirit. In 1942, with Nazis occupying Holland, a thirteen-year-old Jewish girl and her family fled their home in Amsterdam and went into hiding. For the next two years, until their whereabouts were betrayed to the Gestapo, they and another family lived cloistered in the "Secret Annex" of an old office building. Cut off from the outside world, they faced hunger, boredom, the constant cruelties of living in confined quarters, and the ever-present threat of discovery and death. In her diary Anne Frank recorded vivid impressions of her experiences during this period. By turns thoughtful, moving, and amusing, her account offers a fascinating commentary on human courage and frailty and a compelling self-portrait of a sensitive and spirited young woman whose promise was tragically cut short. • LLuV it

I had this book as a child and went on a SEARCH to find the same book with the same cover. I wasn’t expecting to find the book in good condition because it’s over 20 years old but this book is in GREAT condition! It was always a good read and I’ll enjoy reading it again and possibly passing it down to my children…or at least one of them.

  • The best book ever!

I read this as a child and always said I’d be like Anne Frank where I’d have a journal and a man named Peter I’d wanna marry one day. Lo and behold, both these things happened! All in all, this book was pretty amazing with thoughts coming from a courageous girl who let us all know how tough times were during WW2. Of course, with humor, charm, and honesty.

  • It's dark and sad like one would expect.

The 5 stars isn't for the happiness the story tells. Cuz there isn't any joy. I'm reading it cuz I've always empathized with her and I wanted to see what the poor girl endured day after day.
