Featuring Cartoon Network's boy genius Dexter, Dexter's Laboratory: Science Ain't Fair contains an arcade-style story mode, mini-games, and a print studio with a variety of options. Dexter's problem child sister Dee Dee has meddled in his life yet again, and after destroying his science fair project, has shrunken Dexter to a three-inch tall version of himself. A near microscopic boy, he must now navigate his lab as he prepares for the science fair while figuring a way to return to normal size.
Story mode is played sequentially through six levels. Players control Dexter as he makes his way through his house, dodging forks, bubbles, and other hazards until he reaches his lab to construct a robot to beat Mandark in the science fair. Besides building a robot, players will construct other contraptions, fly Dexter and his backpack helicopter, and collect bonus blueprint pieces. The four mini-games allow players to squash bugs, shoot menacing monkeys, and take secret photos of Mandark's lab.
A print studio and cartoon maker lets players print pictures, make cards, masks and other projects, as well as design their own cartoons. Cartoons can be created with various backdrops, characters, and text inserted into speech bubbles. The game automatically saves story mode progress and completed levels can be replayed at any time.
