I purchased the SanDisk Sansa e250(2gb) Digital Media Player a couple of months ago to see if i would like this type of technology. I was looking to purchase one of the way more expensive name brands, but decided to start on the low end of the price scale first. After getting my player offline for $20.00 i was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to work and love it's sleek look and it weights only 2.7oz. and downloading my music was so easy, it uses the drag and drop method. It comes with some great features like a rechargable battery which can be done by hooking it up to yor computer, the battery life is about 20 hours of running time. The screen is in color and easy to read and use. It's designed with a sturdy metal body for durability, supporting variety of image formats, lets you share photos with your friends, has a built-in radio tuner so you listen to local channels, it's also a voice recorder and has a media slot for extra music. It's almost purfect except unlike the more expensive brands, you can only hear the music through earphones and you can't take pictures. I have decided not to get the more expensive brand and give this one to my daughter and upgrade to SanDisk Sansa Fuze 8gb Overall, i would recommend the SanDisk Sansa e250 to anyone starting out with MP3 players,on a budget and for children.Read full review
I was in the market for a simple and easy to use MP3 player and after a short search of the web, I settled on the SanDisk Sansa e250. What I like about the unit is that it is easy to use, since it is just a drag and drop action to load your music and the controls are simple. I also love the feature that you can add more memory by useing micro SD cards, this also makes it posible to have different music collections on different cards that can be easily switched out for something new. Only issue that I have is that the battery meter may not be working properly, it seems that the battery is lasting long enough, but the meter seems to drop off very fast near the end. All in all a great little MP3 player for the money!!! David
I bought one of these a few weeks ago to use with Napster to go. Although I love the player there are some problems. Sometimes the player will stop playing an Napster tracks but will still play regular mp3s. This just seems to happen out of nowhere and the only way to fix it is to reformat the player using Windows Media player and reload everything. (Updating to the latest firmware did not fix this). Video files have to be converted to quicktime. The bundled conversion app choked on many of my videos. One wouldn't play and with most the others the sound was distorted even at low volume levels (the video looks great however). I have only been able to get a few videos to play with good sound quality but it probably has something to do with how they were originally encoded and is not a problem with the player itself. On the positive side the player is much cheaper than a iPod. Works with Napster To Go so you can pay $14.99 a month and download and load anything in the Napster library that is not 'buy only' (Unlike iTunes where you have to pay for every song you want). The player looks great (I bought a black one) and is packed with features. I love having the ability to play video files and the built in FM turner eliminates the need for any other portable audio device. One other note if you are really looking to load it up with videos spring for the higher capacity versions (they make 2, 4, 6 and 8GB models) 2GB is just not enough for both music and videos and the memory cards you can use to add capacity are limited to 2GB. Update 3/10/2007: I have not had the downloaded tracks refusing to play out of nowhere problem in months. This appears to have been a syncing problem with Napster that has been improved with recent versions of Napster.Read full review
This player has a superior storage capacity. I put my entire mp3 library on it and still had plenty of room. So I loaded it up with photos of the family and places I've travelled and even a couple of 5 minute long videos. If you ever find yourself nearing the storage limit, there is also a micro sd slot for expanded storage! I also enjoy the battery life I get out of the device. I use the player at work and it will usually last me 2 full 8 hour shifts before shutting down due to low battery. On to the only thing I don't like... The player's volume output is MINIMAL! There is no way to control the volume without entering the settings menu and then you only have the choice of low or normal. With the volume set to normal, I could not hear the music over the (relatively quiet...less than 75 db's constant) noise at work from the equipment on the production floor. In order to make the player worth my effort, I had to purchase an $80 pair of noise-cancelling amplified speaker headphones.Read full review
Solid device, easy to read screen, output quality is good, in general a very good low cost alternative to more expensive players. Buttons are a little hard to get to, wish they were a bit larger. The expansion slot is treated as an entirely separate device by Windows Media Player (and you have to figure out to use MSC mode before you can even see it). If you have music on the microSD card, the Sansa does a database refresh at power on -- for a full 2G card, this takes over a minute, which I find unacceptable. And finally, album art doesn't transfer automatically in Media Player 11 -- but apparently works OK in 10 (though I haven't tried that yet). I guess it sounds like I have a lot of complaints, but overall I'm glad I got the device. Its a 2G MP3 player in a small, solid package, and I got it for a really great price. I recommend that if you buy an E series Sansa, just plan to not use the expansion port.Read full review
This is a very compact unit. It feels rugged. The controls are somewhat like the Ipod, just not a fluid to use ( I have used my friends Ipod). The storage is fine for a casual user. It is expandable via mini sd cards. If you just want an easy to use music player, this one is great (my 4yr old son uses it all the time when we are driving my Jeep). This is flash based so you do not have to worry about it skipping. Moving files to it in Vista is a as easy as dragging & dropping in Windows media player. This also works as a picture & video player. I have not tried the radio function as I live 20 miles from the nearest radio staion. The one fault I am sure some will have is the lack of volume control. There is simply standard & loud. The standard is set at a ( safe) level. It is however loud enough for me to use while hearing protection to mow my lawn. One simple fix would to use a set of adjustable volume ear phones. I would recomend this to anyone who would like an Mp3 player, but just feels bad spending over a hundred bucks for an Ipod.Read full review
Since I have most of my music files ripped in WMA format, I've been looking for a flash MP3 player to compete with the IPOD Nano. After much research, I decided to take a chance on this newly released player. I'm very impressed to start. The player is small (just a bit thicker than the Nano), and fairly light. The screen shows excellent color- based on the menus. I'm not planning to use it much for video or photos, so I'm not very concerned with the screen size, which is expectedly small. The player in general is very easy to use. I looked over the quick reference guide and didn't even bother with the user guide (user guide is in PDF format on the cd-rom.) The overall appearance is excellent. You can load music by dragging and dropping, or using Windows Media Player 10. I prefer to use WMP10 to sync, since I have my music organized well. Syncing in this manner was very simple. I didn't encounter any issues with the first two syncs I've performed. If you have your id3 tags correct, the Sansa will display your music by Artist, Album, Songs, or Genere. There's also a "To Go playlist". The Sansa sorted my music just fine. The display is informative when playing music. The sound so far is excellent. I've used a few different headsets to test it and have no complaints. The center dial/wheel rotates and glows in a bright blue. It allows you to scroll through menu items and to increase/decrease the volume. The directional buttons around the wheel are a little difficult to use with only one hand. Because the center dial is raised so much, you end up needing to use the tips of your fingers to press the buttons that surround it. I suppose it will take a little getting used to- but it's not a dealbreaker for me. Following the precedent set by other companies. The USB connector is of course proprietary. This is currently the only way to charge the Sansa, so don't lose it. I don't see any wall/travel charges offered yet- even at the Sandisk Website. Since it's new- there aren't really any accessories offered. This isn't a concern to me personally- so I bought it anyway. I definitely would like a separate charging apparatus, rather than having to charge via USB- so I hope Sandisk offers such an item, sooner rather than later. It comes with a small velvet pouch. I'll be searching for some sort of "skin" to protect the player, instead of relying on the pouch. It's just not efficient if you want to protect and use the player at the same time. Pros: It looks beautiful. Plays WMA Files. Easy to sync. Drag & Drop available. Sounds great. Flash memory- so no need to wory about hard drive skipping. 2GB of memory with models that go up to 6GB. Expansion slot for miniSD cards for more memory. Lots of features: Music, Video, Pics, FM, Voice Recording, etc. Price - $159. Cons: Buttons can be hard to use. Charging via USB only (at this time.) Not many accessories offered (yet.) Doesn't support many file types. Again, please understand when reading this, that my primary use is for music. All the other features are merely a bonus for me. So if you're looking for something to use regularly to play video, pics, etc- please do your homework to see if the player is a good fit for your needs. Most of the time when I read negative reviews, it's because the reviewer bought something that did not fit their needs. Companies are in business to sell their products- do your own research to determine if the product is right for you.Read full review
First impression: This is a li-ion player that you need to hook up with a USB to charge. Also please note that the USB data/charger wire is a propriety item. This player can play video and photo slice show. It also had a recorder and FM radio. This player also had a micro SD memory card slot on the side. This allows you to DL photos from a camera. (or videos) The E250 had the smallest of the the series - about 2 gigs. The good: 1. This is a man's mp3 player - this player actually has heavy metal plate armor on its rear. It is very, very likely it will survived from repeated drops onto hard floor. (I will certainly not test that!) And since there are protective skins for this player.... It will make Sergey Ilyushin smile. 2. Style - people does a double take when I whip this sucker out. The blue LED scroll wheel makes them think this was a mod up ipod. Very 133T. 3. Awesome batteries - mine used for about 18 hours without a recharge. 4. Video player - both Ipod Nano and Creative Lab Zen V does not offer them. 5. Price - This thing is marked around $100 for a 2 gig player. Nano is $30 more and Creative lab only gives you 1 gig. 6. Decent enough sound - previous version of SanDisk product had hisses when volume is turned all the way. This is no ipod, iriver or creative lab... but it still great improvement and sounded great compared to some other major brands. The bad: Like all li-ion players... you will need to change batteries in about 3 years if you are a careful user. However, SanDisk allow you to switch the li-ion with ease so no worry here. Another thing I dislike is the USB wire; it is propriety and not a standard size micro USB jack that used in other more sensible players. So it is certain you will need another wire from Sandisk sometime in your ownership of this player. The ugly: (not that bad, but....) Dear SanDisk peeps: Hi. I had some minor issue for your E250 player... 1. Why can't I have my own wallpaper? Creative lab Zen V let you do so... why not the E series? It's your flagship product, right? 2. Could this player automatic size jpegs, tiff, and bmp without transforming the files. Again, creative lab Zen V let you do that. 3. The little carrying string that comes with player is a freaking hard plastic tube! And it cut into my hand! It was black but now is all red because its covered with my blood!! (J/K) Conclusion: Compared to 2 other similar class products - Ipod nano and Creative lab Zen V, this player is a bruiser; This is not just referring the unit's weigh, but rather its features. For about the same price, the unit nearly has everything I wanted in a 7th generation mp3 player. But like I stated before, I do not favor this sort of USB charging because it is, IMHO clumsy. So it is a perfect player for the office and for short trips. For longer trips, I will use my old Zen nano plus just because it use AAA batteries.Read full review
I bought two of these MP3's at Christmas for my daughters aged 14 & 15. The MP3's they were asking for (trying to economize) were priced from $24-$29 and didn't appeal to me (seemed to lack quality & options). I searched reviews and found that the Sansa e250 was a great little unit which I paid $35 and $37. It has sufficient options for my little "BeBops". I am not at all "tech" wise, but found downloading songs and pictures a breeze and I'm sure they'll never use all the space on them.! The girls also love that they have a FM radio as well. The units I purchased were refurbished in excellent physical condition and have been working perfectly. I did purchase separate skins for the units for added protection, they slip on easily and will protect them from normal wear and tear. If you are looking for a reasonable unit that is reasonably priced (on EBay)and has fun options, check out this little GEM!Read full review
This MP3 player is extremely easy to use as it is plug, download, and play. The sound quality is the best I have used to date with a very useful equalizer, if you don't like the presets. My only complaint is that you can't build files on your computer and then transfer them as is. The SanDisk will place the songs in an album folder. You can then listen to the album, or shuffle the music, or repeat the music. The video quality is very good for such a small screen, and the sound almost sounds like simulated surround sound. I also like the FM quality with station preset capability. From my experience, this unit is much easier to use than it's iPod counter part, and with a lot less hassles.
