We bought the Breville icecream maker 3 weeks ago. We have already used it about a dozen times. We have made both icecream and sorbet to date. It works very well. The manufacturer recommends to make ice-cream earlier and place in the freezer for a while and this is true. The consistency straight out of the machine is like soft serve. For the sorbet it is fine straight out of the machine. Only three minor critiques - the right hand lifting handle is small, and it is difficult to get a grip. It is difficult to scrape the last 10% of the ice-cream out due to the shape. The keep cool feature seems tricky to know when it is on. Overall though, it is simple to use and makes great tasty icy treats. Very happy with it.

This a beautiful machine, alert sounds are a lovely, Willy Wonka bell and the controls feel smooth. There is a keep cold feature. The ice cream it produces is top notch. Easily better than ice cream you buy in the shop. I think the only reason more people don’t own an ice cream machine is that the machine is large. I am very happy with my purchase.

This ice cream machine is so easy to use and it takes much of the guess work out of making ice cream. You can be as involved as you like in the ice cream making process. I like the fact that you do not have to store canisters in your freezer. I enjoy cooking, so look forward to the many ice cream creations awaiting me with this machine.

I already own an ice-cream maker but it doesn't have its own compressor like the Smart Scoop does, which makes it so convenient. Now, I can make batch after batch of different desserts, if I chose, because I don't have to wait to refreeze the bowl as I do with my other ice-cream maker. The appliance is surprisingly quiet and easy to clean and if you have enough bench space that is the best place for it as it's fairly heavy and not something you will want to move around a lot. So far I've made gelato, quick ice-cream, rich ice-cream and, my favourite, frozen yoghurt! I've yet to try the sorbet but am sure it will be just as delicious as the other desserts. The rich ice-cream recipes containing egg require heating and cooling before churning the ice-cream but that is the case with any ice-cream making appliance. The Smart Scoop Ice Cream Maker will be used far more than an appliance that requires the bowl to be pre-frozen because unless the bowl lives in the freezer, it is easy to forget to do this. For me, it’s a huge bonus that I can choose fresh ingredients without preservatives or additives and make whatever delicious dessert the family would like, whenever I like!Read full review

Fantastic machine takes time to get used to there are some simpler recipes at the back of the book that dont require eggs that work really well. I would highly recommend this product. You know what you are putting in your ice cream no nasties and you will never need to buy ice cream again. Awesome for a beginner ice cream maker and ice cream lover. Makes 1 litre each time and the family will love you!
