I bought this book because I heard of the Author, Malcolm Smith, by others quoting or stating ideas he presented. Shortly after I received it I had a few minutes and started reading. I was only a half a page into it when I knew I would not be reading complete chapters at one sitting. Although the reading is very easy, the depth of the causes me to stop and ponder what is being taught. The author starts with a culture comparison of modern times and biblicale times, explaining why it is difficult for modern day people to understand the depth of commitment that a covenant meant for those of days gone by. From there he continues to challenge ones commitment to Christ. Are we following Him for just His Blessings and run away when things don't go the way we expect them to? Or are we really commited to a until death covenant? I haven't finished it yet. However, I already recognize a change occuring in my study, prayer and worship life, let alone relationships with family and friends. Worship has taken on a whole new dimension. I believe these teachings will impact your life as they have mine.Read full review
I can't think of one thing I dislike about "The Power of the Blood Covenant". I see this book as an expression of the vital truth of the blood covenant, which in most Christian preaching/teaching...is missing...in my opinion. [I have attended MANY churches searching for this basic truth]. That knowledge is the foundation for standing on the grace of God, only, based on Christ's obedience. Does our obedience matter? It sure does...but not to gain God's approval, but from a heart full of gratitude and awe of His grace and mercy. I can truly love God and be in relationship with Him BECAUSE He first loved me! This book has opened my eyes to the greatness of the blood of Jesus...which I had never fully grasped, after attending many churches with so much focus on what believers are to do. I was desperate, guilt-ridden and shame-filled, crashing on the rocks of my own to-do lists from performance based religion. I am so thankful for what Malcolm Smith teaches! This book, IMO, is second to the Bible only. I was eager to read it because it was urgently recommended to me from another legalist, who got victory over legalism from this truth of the blood covenant God made with His people, through His Son, Jesus the Christ. My mindsets are changing thanks to the scriptural answers taught strictly from the knowledge that "God IS Love". I now believe that the focus on one's obedience is one of the greatest LIES in Christianity! I believe every church leader needs to read this book. The blood covenant is about The Giver of Life, what He really gave...and His faithfulness...not on yours or mine.Read full review
I recommend every believer to read this book. There was a couple of things I didn't agree with but it was his opinion other than that it was excellent.
