Description: The Dell E228WFP is a 22 in, flat panel computer monitor. Compared to other flat panel monitors on the market, it is relatively inexpensive. This display features a 1680x1050 native resolution. Weighs about 11 lbs. Pros: Has 1680x1050 resolution, which is higher than some similarly priced monitors. Its wide viewing angle (160 degrees) is useful whenever the screen is being viewed by more than one person at the same time. Accepts DVI input, which allows for greater signal clarity than traditional VGA. Cons: None noted. Suitability: A flat panel monitor, suited for those who want a high-end display for movies, presentations, or design work. The 5 ms response time of this screen makes it ideal for fast-moving games and for watching movies. Value: Given its relatively inexpensive price, this monitor has great features for the money. I recommend it.Read full review
No HDMI or Display port, but it has VGA and DVI inputs, at 22" and 1680 x1050 it is a great 16:10 LCD panel. The color adjustment from factory default needs a bit of tweaking to get right, but once set it is a solid performer. The locked 60 Hz refresh rate at full resolution can cause some issues if you are using it for gaming, but for general office work it is fine. Reduce the resolution one setting usually fixed this though. For a $150-$170 range monitor this is a good deal if you are mostly doing general computing and office work. If you need something for gaming go somewhere else

It take a while to tweak it to display comfortably to my eyes; but it has plenty of possibilities that with a good graphics card you can accomplish whatever suits your fancy. "Optimum Resolution" only supports a 60Hz refresh rate, so if you are sensative to the quivvering of such a low refresh rate you will need to play with lower resolutions to obtain higher refresh rates.
Pros: 1680x1050 pixel resolution for clear, sharp images Offers 300 cd/m² brightness and 800:1 contrast ratio 5 ms response time enables crisp and clear images Viewing angles of 160° vertical and 160° horizontal DVI-D with HDCP. Cons: No height adjustable stand. Backlight bleeds from the top and bottom of the LCD when the screen is black. 6bit panel, so only 16.2 million colors (vs 8bit @ 16.7 million) I would highly recommend it for an entry level LCD monitor.
This is a quality Flat Panel Monitor. It is superb at the highest resolutions, not as good at lower resolutions (with my NVidia GeForce4 MX 420 Card, with your card probably different performance) I bought it because I love my Dell Monitor at work, a 24" Flat Monitor which is simply incomparable. Recommend this product if you're looking for a reasonably priced workstation quality Flat Monitor and enjoy high resolution.
After only using the notebooks for 3 years straight, I decided to again switch to desktop PCs, and during the build phase, I decided to go for the DELL E228WFP monitor. Although it doesn't have a HDMI, and there are monitors that have better specs, this one is doing a great job so far. I've bough it for roughly $280 here at eBay 4 months ago, and at that time it was a bargain. I'm sitting in front of it at least 8 hours daily, and my eyes don't get tired. It's a pleasure to use it, the image is clear, whether it's the games, web designing or watching movies. It's 22" size is just perfect, and the design is simple, but the quality is great and the case is sturdy. And, it's a DELL.
If you're looking for an excellent value priced monitor - this is it! From set up to using the monitor - very easy. I'm just using the analog VGA cable and the experience is still very good. I'm probably partly influenced by the fact that I went from a 15" to a 22". But still, for the price (I paid just over $200 with free shipping) you just cant beat the performance of this monitor. The sleek looks of the monitor and stand are decent too. _______ UPDATE 1/26/09_____ I just added the DVI cable. Very impressive. Clear and very detailed! If you are using a VGA cable, you won't believe what a difference a DVI cable makes! Still highly recommend this monitor!
I like the sheer size of it. 22" is a lot on a desk, but not with the narrow design of this one! Gives you more of what you want to see without taking the space that you need. Versatile vga and dvi connectors means whatever pc/videocard you use can plug into this! Overall i'd give this a 5/5 rating. Excellent colors, fast performance for normal or gaming use.
Apparently this series of LCD flat panel LCD monitor has a great image, but they made it with cheap or faulty parts, so it is inclined to require repair early. Repairs is fairly inexpensive - from an honest repair shop - because all they have to do is replace a couple of really cheap capacitors usually.
Ok this monitor is by far one of the best I have ever used. Beautiful display once you play with the settins and set it up for Vivid Photo, AMAZING quality. Of course this is going to vary on your video card what settings you will have this set at. Overall, pretty, lightweight and very sexy!
