Ok only, has issues
It is not bad overall, but for a product for small business, it is not good at all. It tends to drop connections and not allow admin access often. At times, I can even put a pattern to it and say, it will act up now, and it does. It does require frequent reboots, it reduces this issue. For a home use, it works well. Excellent value for wired gigabit router
This is an excellent quality new router, and a great value compared to the Amazon selling price of $219.00. However, there are issues with setting it up, and the simple fix is to reset the router for 30 seconds, not 10 seconds as instructed. Then you will have factory settings, and can reconfigure it from that point. There are many options for reconfiguring for VPN, privacy and speed, and the manual is online. Linkseys RVS4000 router
I loaded new firmware I downloaded. I found I had to reboot both this router and unit from the cable company. It then obtained the ISP number. The firmware upgrade I typed the address for the router and you can check the firmware number. I downloaded the firmware from their web site and saved it to my desktop. After you get the router number click on upgrade then it will where the download is it then upgraded. It will tell you if you have the wrong one. I don't use the vpn. Looking for a gigabit wired router with quality parts and a reasonable price? Look no further than Cisco RVS4000
It's actually fairly difficult to find a wired ONLY router these days - I am coming from a wired D-Link 10/100 Fast Ethernet wired router to this Cisco RVS4000 Wired Gigabit Ethernet router. While there are certainly faster routers out there with quad core chip setups this Cisco Linksys V2 RVS4000 has a full gigabit Ethernet WAN and 4 gigabit Ethernet LAN ports and is easily found for less than $100 boxed and less than $50 OEM. In terms of firmware, however, this Cisco Small Business grade router has a business class polish and professionalism to it that is a step above ordinary consumer routers. It can be configured as either a Gateway or a Router and has built in Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) along with a DMZ and firewall. If you are looking to make the jump from a consumer level router to a more professional option then this is the perfect baby step - with only a little bit of a handicap in terms of setup. It will be slightly more difficult to setup than your standard Linksys / Dlink / Netgear / Asus / Buffalo consumer router but will be well worth it in terms of learning experience.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
