Heavy machinery are examples of modern human ingenuity. They require one man to operate but perform the job of more than twenty. Excavator buckets vary largely in size and weight, and compatibility depends on the size of the excavator you will be using them with. A mini excavator can take a bucket that's 22 to 75 cm wide, while the designs depend on their intended use. Digging buckets have long, wide, angled teeth to dig deep into soil, while rock buckets have narrower teeth pointed straight to scoop up rocks with ease. Many buckets have teeth which you can easily replace once they wear out, and are compatible with skid steer buckets and mini excavators.

Apart from the bucket, which is one of the main components of a hydraulic construction machine, heavy machinery parts are widely available as well. If you find a good deal, stock up on hydraulic filters because you’re sure to be replacing them frequently during your machine’s lifetime. Suspension seats are also some of the first parts to wear out, so get a couple of spares so that operators are able to work comfortably for longer, which means they can work more efficiently. Moreover, heavy machines aren't built for long drives, so get your own loading ramps to be able to transport them easily on trucks in order to go to and from a worksite.

Heavy machines use hydraulic motors compatible with many types of attachments that specialise in particular jobs. For example, a rock breaker attachment is great for destroying large boulders that are simply too big to be lifted on a rock bucket, while ditch cleaning buckets are great for cleaning out irrigation ditches easily. These can hook up to the back of a tractor or on a skidsteer or excavator and work via an assembly of hydraulic pistons that actuate the arms.
