A precision sharpened 4-facet point generates less heat and the life of the drill is therefore also prolonged. Overheating of the steel is often not noticeable, but the consequences are that the drill will dull rapidly and may even break.
Good accessory that gives great results when used correctly but overpriced.
This attachment does a great job when used correctly but getting there sometimes takes a bit of effort. I found it took a while to get the hang of how it worked and sharpening a drill takes much longer than using a conventional sharpener - although the end result is, arguably, a superior result. My old sharpener that I bought probably 40 years ago is much quicker to use (works off the side of a grind stone), however it only does the conventional type of sharpening and only up to 13mm. bits. The Tormek can handle bits up to 22mm., so I only have a couple that are larger and won't fit in the jig. All over, I am pleased with the accessory and plan to use it on a rainy day when I have lots of spare time. I do think however that it is grossly over prices.
Perfect........bit expensive BUT you get what you pay for. I think a bit of a pain for drills under 6mm but they are so cheap in bulk that you wouldn't bother to sharpen them. I use them on 12mm to 20mm for Lathe work .....perfect holes, no oversizing, and I can tailor them to cut 4140 BONUS!!!!!!
Good kit.
