Great machine from Breville. One makes 30ml shots of rich espresso, then I add 70ml of hot water to each shot from the machine to make rich strong coffee that my wife and i really enjoy. Done this way, one avoids the slight bitterness in making 100ml of coffee in other cheaper espresso machine ( I tried doing 30ml in them then adding water, the result just wasn't the same as that from the Breville). The only problem isn't actually with the machine, but rather with the instructions. The machine comes with single wall filter cups and with dual wall cups, and the instructions say to use ground fresh beans for the single wall filter cups and to use the dual wall filter cups for store bought packet ground coffee. I also have the Breville Smart Grinder. It became immediately apparent despite varying the grain size, that unless one has really, really fresh beans that are ground for the single wall filter cup, one doesn't achieve the 8 bars of pressure necessary when making the espresso shot. Old beans and even not so old beans have to be ground and used in the dual wall filter cup to get rich espresso - else one only gets something stronger than the coffee from a stove-top Moka pot form the single wall filetr cup. Anyhow, I think that the only slight obstacle to achieving fantastic rich espresso from this fabulous machine. Read full review

Great machine, however, in hind sight I would have liked to see real photos of the machine. Some small dings and scratches that I wasn't expecting. Overall the machine is good and currently working well. It was simply the presentation that was a little disappointing. I believe all the parts are there as well

I have had the machine for about 5 weeks now and am extremely happy with it. Makes a great cup of coffee and even my wife who was happy using Nespresso pods now asks me to make her coffee too! Pros: * Attractive Unit - smooth edges, easy to clean * Large Water Tank - with ability to fill from front/top of unit (or directly into tank at rear) * Advanced Features to modify pre infusion time and pressure, brew temperature and steam temperature * Programmability - Auto On, 1 Cup/2 Cup buttons can be programmed by duration or flow based settings * Large Drip Tray * Being a dual boiler, able to make coffee and steam milk at same time. * Able to make some super creamy micro foam milk for lattes etc * Great results are possible but also rely on a decent quality fresh beans and a grinder to grind beans on demand. Cons: * More use of plastic parts than more expensive machines (potential issue for longevity vs value for money) * Steaming is a little slow (but there is plenty of it to steam milk for 4-6 lattes at a time!) * Auto Shut Off after 10-15 minutes. It would be nice to be able to program this to keep on a little longer to benefit from the cup warmer and keeping group head warm if you are going to use it a few times throughout the day - although the unit is very quick (< 5 mins) to heat up to temperature .Read full review

A dual boiler means you can process the coffee and milk simultaneously. ie good coffee, fast and as many cups as you like. This unit replaces an earlier model that became clogged with lime scale and could not be cleaned. The new/current model can be descaled at home by the average user
