I have just received my my external pump . I have never had one before . The instruction booklet doesn’t give enough information . Unsure how to set up inside pump . Not sure if it is connected right seems to be working very quite my tank is getting clearer .
Definitely not Silent* impeller hum is/was expected and noticeable, would be dampened in an enclosed cabinet, Would likely annoy bedroom environment. Will transfer slight unit vibration.
The impeller in both of my purchased units makes occasional rattling sounds even after silicone grease application my guess is the non-fixed impeller to spindle assembly making clicks with any changes to pressure/or contact with impeller blades and housing. This might stop after a longer break in period.
The UV addition should only be used temporarily for green water/disease/parasite outbreaks, as the internal plastic is not UV stable (not 24/7).
Build quality is adequate, though flimsy plastic in fittings and locking mechanisms, so care is advised.
Hard 90* bends on outflow spray bar assembly restrict flow rate (I would not recommend not using spray bar for same reason) 1400l/h questionable, @ 35w not outstanding performance, but acceptable.
Included filter media kit is sub par quality. Better than nothing , but I would personally upgrade.
Hoses are good. thick walled same diameter on input/output and long enough for most tank setups. In tank fittings are matte black and the additional surface skimmer is a nice optional extra. Suction cups are good.
Both of my unit when setup correctly showed not signs of leaking.
Even with all of the above it is still represents good value considering the unit costs 1/5 of some of the name brand canister filters, doing more or less the same job.
With the saving here could go towards a better quality filter media.
Can't complain for the price.

It's a small compact design that looks well made and it's pretty easy to set up but could do with some more instructions.
It has a large media area and it's pretty quiet and there's no need to pay a fortune other External Canisters as this performs just like the expensive external canisters.
It has a UV light but I wouldn't use it all the time as I don't know if the plastic is UV Protected as this may weaken the canister.
All in all it's Great Value for the Money!!
I had been fighting an algae bloom for about 3 weeks. I tried everything, cleaning, treatments and nothing worked. I got the new canister uv filter and my tank was crystal clear in 5 days. It is also super quiet. I can’t hear it running like the filters I was using. Best thing I ever bought
I have a 2mtr x 2mtr old Spa converted to a fishpond, the motor broke down & within a week, i couldn't see the fish. I bought this filter, hooked it up & within 2 days, my fish were back. Only used the material filter.
