Industrial Metal & Alloy Round Tubes

Metal and Alloy Round Tubes

There are many uses for round metal and alloy tubes, including plumbing and construction, along with many hobbies and craft use, such as model building. Metal alloys are a mixture of metals or can be a combination of metal and other elements that one utilises in a wide variety of applications. It's important always to have what you need on hand whether it be a metal alloys channels, tubes, or steel round rods.

Measurements

One thing to remember is unlike pipes; you measure tubes by their outside diametre and not the inside. What’s more, the measurement takes into consideration the wall thickness of the tube. Sometimes though, companies will use the inner diametre as a way to measure and advertise tubes, but typically, they always include that it is the inner diametre and not the outer one. Standard measurements are from 2 to 12 mm, so you have options in finding the perfect size.

Shapes

Possibly the most commonly used type of tubes are round in shape. However, if the need arises there are metal and alloy square tubes on the market. Round tubing isn't always a straight line. Many projects require a bend or 90-degree custom angle, so most manufacturers make a variety of pieces to fit a wide assortment of projects.

Metals

Depending on your project and the type of metal you prefer, you can choose either aluminium, brass, copper, or steel. If the tube is visible when you finish the project, you will want to choose a material that will not only stand up to the stress of what it needs to do but be aesthetically pleasing to the eye too. What works for one job might not be the best option for another, which is why it is so important to understand the differences in material.
