My 10 year old son bought this game with his own money from relatives and was beyond excited to get it. We played as a family on an XBox 360 after reading reviews that it was too hard to control with a dvd remote. It was great fun for the less than the first 1/2 an hour until everyone got to the end of Year One, the Quidditch Challenge. All four of us attempted it literally hundreds of times, even the gentleman of the house, who is a skilled avid gamer. None of us could beat that part. We even researched how to pass that level and only found 2 people (after hours of Googling) who got passed it and only 1 tip on how. Naturally that tip did not work. Now the game is just a decoration.

PC-cd-rom plays better, more fluidly; graphics are as beautiful on DVD as on cd-rom. Easy to play with DVD remote (arrow keys, enter key). Not as easy to win or progress to next year at Hogwarts. I got it at a wonderful price ($9.95 + S/H)and paying more is not recommended. Makes a nice pasttime and may be more fun with multiple players (1-4). I wish my remote had bigger keys and my fingers moved faster. But the game does make the player feel like a student at Hogwarts (you're the student, not the character Harry Potter et al. but Harry helps you win points, and you can lose points, as if you were a character in the movies - classrooms.
I purchased this game for my son, thinking it would be easier for him to operate than a video game. This game is ok. However, several of the games require you to use the remote to navigate a broom, or an owl, through the sky, and these type of challenges did not function with our remote. You can not progress in the game without completing some of these challenges, thus, the game is very limited for my son. I checked the reviews on Amazon and found that many people who had purchased this game came across the same issue.
Very nice graphics and sound features. Is very engaging in the way it is played. There are some fun added extras. But depending on your DVD remote button size it can be hard to play using the remote. Small close together buttons on the remote make it hard to play.
My niece (age 12 & who lives in another state) and I (50+) both enjoy Harry Potter very much. For her summer birthday, I thought she might like this game as I thought it look very unique, very interesting and would be fun to play. I bought it for her on Ebay. When it arrived, it was wrapped in plastic and I sent it on in the same condition. I called my niece and explained that I needed to know what she thought of it and if she had played it, so I could leave feedback. Her answer was enthusiastically given: Sweet! It works great! I've played it alot!. As she gave it such high marks, I can only pass on what she said, and so I gave it high marks on my feedback.
