I noticed that the adaptor shipped with my Dell Inspiron 1525 stopped working as the laptop was no longer charging and the little light on adaptor was no longer working. My first thought was what a pile of crap. I then went onto the Dell website to order a new one and they wanted $130 bucks and I thought holly crap. Very expensive for a $500 dollar laptop. This is when ebay the knight's in shining armour came to the rescue. I entered my laptop make and model and was presented with a large number of power adaptors and a very low price. Phew, more money for beer!!! The adaptor works perfectly, my only gripe is that we leave it plugged in 99.99% of the time as the Inspiron battery life is also crap. The length of the cord to the adaptor from the wall and the adaptor the the laptop is a bit short. If you have you laptop on a table then the adaptor is hanging in mid air ready for the newly purchase puppy to have a go at. Apart from that very happy with the quality of the product.Read full review
The item is probably better known as the PA-4E rather than the PA-12 family of AC adapters for Dell laptops. This is not your ordinary generic adapter, but one from the same specification as used by Dell in their supply of high-end laptops. The principal difference between the generic adapters and this genuine item apart, from quality guarantee, is the inclusion of the LED illumination band on the DC plug -- other 130 Watt adapters use a standard plug without the nice blue ring of LED illumination. This feature is a better way to show "power-available" than the usual LED on the adapter case. Laptop power adapters are a mature item in the design and manufacture aspects, and the failures most users experience are due to excessive flexing force at or very close to the DC power plug. The Dell computers use three wires in the DC cable and the fine wire to the thin centre pin of the plug is usually the first one to fail through rough usage.Read full review
The description said it is compatible with my laptop model Latitude E6520 but I even get blue screen or fatal error when I use this. When it works, it takes ages to charge my laptop. No further help from the supplier :-(

AC Adapter works fine with my Dell Inspiron 6400. Notes to others: - First charge with new battery caused it to get very hot but works fine after that and keeps a very low temperature. - Doesn't come with power cord for the wall socket. I found I had to get a replacement as the original Dell adapter power cord wont suit this model (but they are very common and easily acquired). Does what it says on the box. Cheers, Steven.
There are many knock-off Dell adapters out there. They are generally bigger and run hotter. Get a nice, compact real Dell.
