The Hitachi 400 GB internal hard drive is a five-platter system that provides more storage than pervious models, without the normal failure rates associated with more platters. The 7,200 RPM speed of the platters means that searches are faster for data on this 3.5-inch hard drive. It works best for desktops, and employs command queuing, which means that the Hitachi hard drive can be used for multi-tasking such as running a spreadsheet while browsing the Internet. This 3.5-inch hard drive also includes mechanical enhancements that reduce vibrations, increasing speed and also protecting the drive from damage if the Hitachi hard drive is jostled.
