For a simple Sirius/XM music experience, I think the original Roady models from Delphi couldn't be beat. I like the plug n play portability. You don't need any special cradles or anything. Antennas & power adapters are cheap & easy to find. Right now, I can move my Roady between 3 cars, the garage, living room, and my cubicle at work. I wish Delphi still made the Roady, as they are becoming more and more scarce on EBAY (which is about the only place you can find them now...) On the flip side, however, because of that portability, Delphi should have made the inputs more durable,as they Roady have a tendency to wear out causing connection problems with audio or power. For that reason, on my latest Roady, I connect and disconnect very slowly and carefully to try to make it last longer. I'm on my third unit in 7 years. Stayed with this model because I already had power in all those different locations and newer models use a different power adapter.Read full review
The Delphi Roady2 may be the last satellite radio receiver with an FM modulator which will play through an unused FM frequency on your car radio, WITHOUT elaborate hard-wiring or connections to your fender antenna. The FCC no longer allows this level of transmitting power because of alleged interference with other car radios not connected to satellite. As such, you can use this radio easily and take it from car to car. A good accessory for this Roady2 is the Personal Audio kit which allows you to take the Roady2 out of your car, put it in a special portable tray with lithium battery and headphones and jog or bike ride with satellite reception. This Personal Audio is for the Roady2, NOT for the original Roady. Buy 'em while you can, they don't make the Roady2 anymore.
Right out of the box this little guy performed like a champ. I especially liked the clear screen with its multiple color options. Sound is clear and crisp through the car stereo system via the built-in FM transmitter. While it doesn't have some of the bells and whistles of other Delphi offerings--like the memory for particular songs (my wife's SkyFi2 beeps when your favorite is coming up next on another channel; but that unit is almost FOUR times the size of the Roady2!)--for the size and price, it gets my vote! Anyone with a small car--or a small budget--will like this unit!
The Roady2 is an amazing little unit. The FM modulator is very strong, in fact this receiver was discontinued when the FCC mandated a weaker FM signal so other cars wouldn't get any interference, which is stupid because we all use scrambled stations anyway. The dial on the side makes it easy to navigate by memory when you are driving so you don't have to look at it. The remote makes life very easy when you bring it in the house. In terms of sound quality, I have tested it with a tape cassette adapter and the treble is super crisp. The bass isn't extremely powerful but makes a satisfactory presence in my car. Compared to the first unit I had, the Audiovox Xpress EZ, the Roady2 blows it out of the water for sound quality and reception for some reason (using the exact same antenna in the exact same areas). The only difference is the ease of transferring the radio into the house, but for the quality, it cannot be beaten for the price. Also, the unit automatically recognizes whether or not it should use the aux out port or FM modulation to transmit the audio. Finally, the ability to pick favorite songs, not to mention the choice of backlight colors makes this a great receiver for anyone who is looking for a decent radio but doesn't want to invest.Read full review
I have used two of these for several years -- one in-car and one on-house -- and am shopping for a third one for another car. It's an excellent, durable product. It has a very strong modulator -- a key selling point -- meaning it puts out a strong FM signal to your radio. Just one drawback -- something to watch for. The antenna and power connectors on one unit have become a little unreliable, so treat them well. Otherwise, it's another great Delphi product with lots of fine features.
I tried to get an XM satellite radio for my husband that is straighforward and simple enough to use in the car, transfer to our 2nd car and even bring into the house. The newer XM radios are either too complicated with rigging not only the spot XM antenna on the roof but then rigging a wire to your car's antenna to broadcast the signal from the XM to your car radio? That to me is a step backwards in technology. This unit is small and has the ability to broadcast the XM signal via a casette tape adapter, FM modulator(tune the XM satellite radio and the car FM radio to the same frequency and hear the XM radio) or to use a 3.5mm wire adapter to plug into an audio port in your car(if you have one) or to connect to a boom box (we use our Bose which can use an iPod/iPhone and has an optional audio in port). I bought a Snapfish for a xmas present and ended up selling here on eBay because it can only be used in a car and has the XM antenna on car roof and the wire t the car's antenna connection. I bought mine second hand here on eBay because the radio has been discontinued. My husband is enjoying his morning commute and on weekends if we want we bring it inside and with a power adapter and a home XM antenna we can listen on the Bose boom box or our decent home stereo system. It is commercial free and all the music or talk or sports you could want. We installed the XM roof antenna inside our old sedan on the rear deck,as close to the clear rear window as possible and on the side where our power car antenna extends and retracts as directed by the installation manual. Thankfully no additional wires need to be run to the actual car antenna. We had the radio installed, the antenna placement and wiring hidden back to the radio on the dashboard and authorized within a half hour. Signal has been strong but it will disappear when driving next to tall trees directly adjacent next to the road or a tall building, but that is the nature of satellite if the signal is blocked from the sky you lose signal but it does return. If you have really heavy cloud cover again it will fade out. Then you need you car radio or a cd or iPod I am now purchasing other items on eBay to make sure I have back item antennas and power connections. The best part is listening to our favorite format of music non stop and if you want to know the artist and name of the song check the radio display. In the summer we travel more and this should make the travel easy as long as we can all agree what to listen to. You can present 30 channels as favorites so my husband, teenager and I each have our 10 channel preset favorites. I authorized the radio online so that was easy. Be prepared unless you buy a XM store credit you are expected to pay for at least one year of service up front. You pay for one year and they charge you for 11 months of the $12.95 service. Since I was new I got a $15 activation fee and $15 artist fee.Read full review
Like it but want display that is easy for us older fellas so I got the Onyx and display is much better. Now I got to switch the account to this radio. I hope it is free. I got three different models now and the Onyx is best even better than the Onyx EZ. Again I like the XDNX1 it has better display than the XEZ1 .

This receiver is an exact replacement for my original Roady 2 purchased 10 years earlier. It has so many features in such a small unit, it's almost unbelievable. I hope this one lasts at least as long as the first one. when I change cars, this receiver gets moved from the old car to the new car, with no need to pay activation fees for the new vehicle.

I have a Delphi Roady 2, so I knew what I shuld be getting and indeed it is just what I wanted. This unit has 30 presets, is relatively small and easy to use. Also has a built-in FM transmitter (which doesn't work any better than others I've used). I have one set up in the house and I wanted one for the car. This came with several car associated accessories (mounts, cassette interface, etc. Just what I wanted.
It has a more powerful sender than the newer ones. My factory antenna is in the rear quarter windows (2006 sequoia) I had a lot of station loss with a newer unit, this helps quite a bit. I also read that the antenna has something to do with broadcasting the signal. The factory add-on does route the antenna all the way to the back of the car. Mine is currently in the middle of the roof, I may change it later.
