Years ago I finally saved up enough money to buy a Escort Passport 7500. Since I installed it in my SUV I have never gotten a speeding ticket! The detector I had prior to the 7500 was good, or I just thought it was good untill I bought this one! You have to own a radar detector for several months to learn how it really works. I had people tell me that their detectors would pick up bicycles, and go off when their isn't anything around or they think for no reason. After you own one for a long while, and you half-ass understand electronics, you'll see why it alerts when you think nothings around. Todays radar guns use Laser, X-Band, K-Band, & KA-Band. Their coming out with a new band which is KU-Band they mainly use up north. Detectors have X-Band which is the first radar band used by law enforcment back in the late 70s early 80s. X-Band now will alert "SOME" bank alarms,"SOME" garagedoor openers ect. Thats why when your driving around town it starts going off alerting X-Band when you think it shouldn't be alerting at all! Their are still "SOME small town law enforcement agencies that still have X-Band radars. They just haven't spent the money to upgrade their system yet. So when your radar detector seems to go off for no reason it isn't a piece of crap, it's just recieving older signals or signals very close to radar signals. Usually K & KA alerts are the main two to pay attention to. The better the radar detector, the farther & more signals it's going to pick up. Newer detectors like the ESCORT have filters in the system that HELP the detector identify only Radar Signals projected from a radar gun. So if your thinking about buying a Radar Detector it really would be best to get an ESCORT PASSPORT. No it's not cheap but neither is a few speeding tickets! When you deside to get one, it's going to take you awhile to learn how it really works. If you make the same trip back & forth to work everyday you'll get to know where it should & shouldn't go off. It will take several months before you can FULLY sit back and trust it, but you will..... Have a great day!Read full review
received it in good condition, start using immediately. huge difference from previous radar detectors I have used, almost no false alarms. what I do like/love about this type is that you able to turn-on/-off certain bands, ability to block false alarms that do pop-up, and ability to mark camera's and speed traps using gps feature. only these things alone are worth it. also what is good is that you able to track multiple signals at same time, and able to view the frequency of the signal..... using the frequency it is possible to distinguish certain radars police using from false alarms. but otherwise love it so far.....!!
had a stuck button i fixed it by taking it apart and removing the button and replace the metal contact works great now.. figured it had an issue for the price , so great deal for me.
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
I haven't gone through enough speed traps to rate the sensitivity of the unit, but it does work. Impressive by battery life. I'm using rechargeable batteries and rely on the auto-shutoff to power the unit off. Seems to last several times longer than my other wireless detector (not an Escort). Bought used, didn't come with instructions. I wish they were easier to locate online. Suction cup could be better as detector has fallen off the windshield. All-in-all I'm very happy with the Passport.
I would have to say these Escort Radar Detectors are more superior over the easy to find, priced just right for everyone to buy and the get nothing but, false readings that discount stores only carry. I found that I can drive down the highway or in city limits and almost never get a false reading. I like the low profile design of Escorts radar detectors and the funtions it allows you to control unlike the other brands that have factory settings that can't be changed. I would say if your thinking about getting a radar dectector go either Beltronics or Escort don't waste your money as I did over the years on these other brands out there they have along way to go to catch up to these guys.
