This is a great product for what it's designed for. Maybe you don't think you need and external transport and fader control but let me tell you, once you got it you don't wan't to give it up!! The single feature that I use the most is the transport. I use a MacBook Pro for my audio production and it was so annoying to press the spacebar and then look for the stop and rewind buttons... But were this controller really shines is in creating automations. I have to say this, I'm one of those guys that want everything perfect, like, in a mix I didn't have any -3.4db things, it was -3 or -4 db plainly... And that perfection was down from the time of the notes, all quantized, to the fade in and fade out curves. With that said you can imagine that I wasn't thinking in ramdom, human created automations lines, but this faderport changed me for good!! I can't live now without my automations, and soon you will love the motorized fader of this presonus jewel. You will see yourself just felling the music and reacting to an specific track like in a live situation, pumping the guitar in the bridge and lowering it for the rhythm part. Also the pan button is really good. I highly recommend this controller because of the big utility you can have out of it and also for the great price, come on! it's like the price that some people pay for a sun glasses.Read full review
This is easy to use with studio one .. just power up with the DC adaptor and plug it in usb port launch Studio one and have at it .. easy to jump between tracks and a lot more enjoyable than using the mouse ... I like it very much. and very handy when using with my portable set up away from home.

With the Presonus Faderport I no longer have to use the mouse all the time which makes it easier for recording, I can stand in front of the mic with my finger on the record button and hit record when I need to. Although the software that came with it was cracked I did not need it because the Faderport linked right up to my DAW (Studio One Pro.). I don't use it for automation since I have Waves vocal rider to do automation, although it would be great for that. Overall the presonus Faderport as with all presonus products that I have used is of great value.

I am so happy with this product. I have only had the faderport for a short period of time, but it has saved me a ton of time with it's features. Originally my the faderport was not liking my old DAW; but after contacting presonus with some troubleshooting information; they got it sorted out. They even sent me a free copy of cubase le4 which made the conversation between my daw and faderport crystal clear. The only bad thing about buying this product is the price, $200 is way to steep for my tastes. That is why I bought it on e-bay though; got it for almost half the price open-box. I highly recommend it. If you want to save time, make recording much simpler; or just want the actual fader touch, this is a great product.
This works great it speeds up my workflow a lot I use it with Cakewalk sonar Platinum it works great 90% of the time every once in awhile it gets out of sync with the software I just unplug it and plug it back into the USB port and it works fine again. I've learned never to expect Perfection from competing companies and this has way more benefit than hassle.

For use with Cubase / Nuendo, this older Faderport Classic still performs better as it is natively supported by the DAW (the new Faderport 2018 can only be set up as a Mackie Control (MCU) device, requiring you to bank to the channels you are working on (it doesn't chase to your selected channel).

As a small home based engineer, this is a great tool that does what it should. Word to the wise, dont get the latest update as it removes motor function to the fader. I had to revert back to original driver, but that worked. Otherwise, awesome product.

Just bought this & started using it right away. I'm on Pro Tools 9 with a Mac Pro (Snow Leopard 10.6.7). Had trouble initially updating the firmware and had to use my macbook pro laptop for that, but it worked great after that. I've integrated it into my normal workflow, using the fader the most. It's so nice to have a physical fader to move instead of a mouse. I've found the pan knob is a bit quirky, it's smooth but causes the panning in pro tools to jump a bit too far, not enough, or even backwards... Don't know if this is a software bug or a physical problem with the pot on my unit. I also thought the buttons would be soft to the touch, but they are hard & there is no give when you press them, just a click. Not a big deal at all, but I would prefer soft buttons. Otherwise, all the buttons (play, stop, rec, mute, solo, rew, ff) that I use the most work with no delay at all. Great functionality & well built.Read full review
It was a no brainer to get this for my modest recording setup. It's space effective and cost effective too! And it is ideal for recording on location with the laptop. It's a good product to buy used because it can be even cheaper than the $130 price sticker when new. The pan knob isn't smooth like I would prefer which is a common complaint and justified really. But overall its not enough for me to not say this is the perfect solution to number of things that may hinder the "bedroom producer" and even working engineers.
I connected the Faderport to Reaper, selected it under "Control surfaces" in Reaper's Preferences, and it worked perfectly right away. It's much easier than mousing, or even using keyboard shortcuts. During recording it frees me from reaching for the computer between takes (a particular hassle on acoustic guitar). During mixing it makes automation dead simple: select the track you want to tweak using the Faderport's "Channel select" buttons; click the "Touch" button; ride the fader. Much simpler than creating an automation curve on-screen using a mouse. I've had zero problems with the unit, and I believe the Reaper community has developed a third party driver that offers even more features - I look forward to checking that out. No negatives from me at this point; the Faderport has made my DAW easier to drive, less time-consuming and more powerful.Read full review
