Decent low budget Machine
Works fairly well and a bit different from other cotton candy machines, the extruder head is heated by two elemts underneath rather than the extruder (Spinning head) being heated itself. Works fairly well, producing a fair to large amount of cotton candey per amount of sugar added. The only complaint I have is that the bowl and guard could have been bigger. Not enough space to move the collection wands around to catch the candy without bumping the extruder head. This causes you to melt and or burn the candy on the heated extruder. An extra 2" diameter would make it a lot easier to manouver the wand around without buming the head. The quality of the candy and flavor is great, it makes more candy per amount of product than my previous cotton candy machine which had a heated extruder element rather than the underheating which this one has. It works well, runs fairly quietly and overall well worth the cost. One final note is that it takes a good 10-min. to heat up before you can use it effecctively. It rinses clean easitly under really hot water. Was easy to assemble and does work well with the root beer barrels I tried in it; just crush them up first.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Difficult and time consuming...
Unless you only want to make one cotton candy cone, this machine is not for you. As for working well with hard candies...this is, at best, wishful thinking. The hard candy works, but so much of that sugar is lost on the side of the plastic dome that you have to turn off the machine to put in more candy to make one cone big enough for a kid to enjoy. For that reason I went ahead and I bought the floss sugar. The floss sugar works 100 times better. But 1 tablespoon of floss sugar makes only one cone. There's a lot of sugar left around the plastic dome just as with the hard candy but it releases enough floss to make one good cone. If you want to make another cone, you pretty much have to clean the whole machine. It is really nothing more than a novelty. I purchased this to see if it would work for our youth group, but it looks like I'm going to have to buy an industrial sized machine. This is for grandma when the grandchildren stay over night. It's not even logistically possible to use it for a birthday party. Let alone a youth group.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Fun
Super cute and fun. Never want to eat hard candy again without putting it in this machine. It's awesome with sour Warheads Jolly Ranchers Lifesavers all kinds of stuff.
