I bought this to install in an acoustic guitar that I use with a standard electric guitar humbucking pickup. Since the humbucker is "hotter" than the piezo pickup included with the preamp, it can distort a bit if you turn it up too much. But that's the beauty of this set up. I can get some great acoustic sounds or distortion out of this thing. And the EQ controls help to even out my acoustic's upper midrange "honk" to make it sound smoother. Great value!

I build Cigar Box Guitars and have been wanting to try a pre-amp on some. I bought4 of these and after installing on one guitar ended up buying more. They are not expensive and are easy to work with. They are made to fit the curve of a traditional guitar, but I found by using a heat gun I am able to flatten them out for my use. I plan on getting more.

I use this pre-amp in my hobby built Gigar box guitars, it does a good job for volume and tone control. Also it is easy to install but there should be instructions on installation such as size and shape of hole to be cut. Jerry

Got it today and installed it in my $60 Best Choice acoustic. I was pretty surprised to tell the truth. The guitar itself is a great value after a bit of filing of frets and oil the fretboard. But, this topped it off for a cheap project and I would actually play a gig with this if I had to. I'm not kidding. They make a great pair with a little tinkering of the bridge. Being that the under the bridge pick-up is a tad thick. So I filed a tad off the plastic bridge itself. Still a bit high. Next string change I'll remove the wood bridge and sand a bit off the bottom. Should be great then. I recommend it for the price. The controls actually DO WORK!!! Has a pretty darn good sound to with a little adjustment of the amp. Good luck!!!

Not a bad set up for under $10. Measure twice and cut once. Careful with the pick up wire braid. Don't force it through the saddle hole. Enlarge the hole of needed. I'll buy this again for some cheap guitar retrofits.

It was installed on a Yamaha FG700S. It woks reasonably well for the price. The snap lock of the battery case needs some trimming to lock properly. The amplifier is sensitive to the position of the bridge.

Just be sure to locate the right place on your guitar so the contours of the plastic box fit the county or of the guitar.

Did eveything it was supposed to. Very good price. It is designed to be installed in to the guitar by cutting the side out and drilling at least one hole for the guitar cord. I did not install it. But I did test it out and it seemed to work as advertised, so some day I may get brave and cut the guitar and install it but for now I'll just use it externally.
