Although intended for teens, THE AWAKENING isn't much different from Kelley Armstrong's adult series, Women of the Otherworld; it's just shorter. In fact it seems to be set in the same world; it is just told from the perspective of a young teen, rather than a grown woman. All Armstrong's pre-established rules about werewolves, necromancers, witches, & sorcerers are still in place, but a new element has been added: genetic engineering. The supernatural kids in this book have had their DNA altered, and the heroine, Chloe, has been raised in ignorance of her Necromancer origins. I'd suggest reading the first book in the series (THE SUMMONING), and then go on to THE AWAKENING. Then, while you're waiting for Book 3 to be published, start Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series if you haven't yet done so. If you like the teen supernatural novels written by Stephanie Meyer, L.J. Smith, and Linda Joy Singleton, anything by Kelley Armstrong is a must-read!Read full review
a really good series good for teens and adults I preread all my teens books and these are good. It is an interesting view on the supernautral powers as to kids that come into them. And adults scientists who think they can controll and experiment on them but like all kids and teens they have a way to not comply with they older ones have in mind and do things on their own I like to say way to go
Love the book. I had read the first book by the same author and just had to have the second book in the same series. I really enjoyed it and will buy the next book in the same series when it comes out.
It was a great read. My daughter couldn't put it down. She finished it in just a couple of days. That says alot since she is not what you would call a "bookworm".
