Horenstein conducting Mahler's 8th Symphony with the LSO from the London Proms.
Horenstein is at last being accorded the respect that eluded him during his life time. Recordings like this are especially important. In fact many recognise that this performance of Mahler 8 from the Proms in 1959 kick-started the Mahler renaissance of the 60s, certainly in the UK. Unfortunately, the BBC legend series has been discontinued, so you will see a bit of price gouging with some of the more outstanding releases. Be aware that this same recording is also available on Pristine Classical, amazingly remastered, re-pitched and decoughed by Andrew Rose for a much fairer price.
