Edgar Meyer...I believe he is from Appalachia, has written a stunningly beautiful suite. It's main theme is heartbreakingly beautiful...the melody introduced by Josh Bell's perfect! violin tone. And the music explodes, then returns to, and comments upon that beauty. The composition compares to Aaron Copeland's Appalachian Spring...but that lovely piece was written by a New York sophisticate. I love and respect the works of Copeland, and yet, there is a genuine tang to Meyer's composition that conjoins classical structure with bluegrass that jumps and folk melody that haunts. I highly recommend!
When I did an internet search for the album, this came up as the best price. I really enjoy Joshua Bell and Edgar Meyer. They are creative, unusual and fantastic musicians. I was thankful to get it at an affordable price.
