Great Railroad Action
This is another outstanding Clive Cussler book! If you are like me, a railfan, model railroader, or just into early 20th Century history, this book is for you. Action, suspense, good guys and bad guys, you will not be disappointed. Lots of references to both real and fictitious people and places during the hey day of Railroad empires, detective work by a company like the Pinkerton's for example. Isaac Bell is a top notch detective. He is hurled into a situation that takes his abilities to a new level. Not only keeping a cool head but facing obsticles in his way. He is after a person who is bound and determined to wreck the Southern Pacific railroad come hell or high water. He must find ways to provide protection for the railroad that is working in conditions of extreme exhaustion as well as keeping up the workload that is demanded by the head of the railroad. Other notables is a railroad baron who gobbles up railroads from across the country to finishing a project that will be his downfall if he is driven to defeat. Next the beautiful daughter who is young and very rich beyond compare. There is a senator who is courting this lovely young lady but has eyes on the future. Then there is the wrecker. A far reaching octopus with tenticles in every persons pie. He plans far ahead of the deadlines and wants to bring down the railroad. Who is he???
