Nice guitar, but I had a new nut put on (to space the strings properly), New pickups and had it professionally set up - Now it sounds & plays like a precision instrument. Good price even with the extras!

I love the satin cherry sunburst better than the gloss finish. It has a very organic look and feel to it. The pickups are another story. I love p90s. I've had DAllen p90s(excellent and very quiet). The stock pickups are very noisy and it only gets worst when you add even a small amount of overdrive.(I own a xotic sl ,Wampler clarksdale and velvet fuzz).Another thing is that Gibson doesn't offer a rwrp as one of the pickup. Do yourself a favor if you purchase this guitar. Change the pickups for some David Allens or Lollars or whatever is in your budget. I opted for Lindy's noiseless p90s this time around and I'm glad I did. I love em and so do my guitar tech. There not 100% single coil sounding but to my ears they sound great. As always let your ears be your Just "my two cents ".

Introduced on the NAMM show in 2004 (along with the Keith Richards signature L-5S) this is sort of an upgraded version of the L-6S from the seventies. It is made of mahogany where the L-6s was made of cheaper maple. Where the L-6s was more or les a budget guitar, this L-4s was not exactly cheap: on introduction it listed $4.000! After two months it was removed from the sales-lists and the only other copy I have ever seen is a prototype in wine-red. It plays and feels great this guitar: it sounds somewhat between an SG and a Les Paul. It is conveniently simple to operate with just two knobs and a switch but you can get a whole lot of different tones out of it (coil tap pickups). It is a pity that this model went out of production so fast. It has become my favorite guitar instantly!!!!!

lightweight with a great neck.. pickups are really good.. there seems to be a hum thru the amp at some settings. if you touch a metal part on the guitar it stops but it can be adjusted out

IN MY 'DRIFTING' THROUGH THE INTERSTELLARNET, I CHANCED UPON THIS BIT OF CRAFTMAN(WOMAN)SHIP. ALL OTHER AVAILABLES WERE NOT QUITE RITE. THIS HAS THE FEEL OF ORG'L TOURTOISE-THICK AND NOT SMOOTH WITH A CREAM BINDING THAT WAS SUPERBLY MELDED TO THE GUARD. THE COLOR, WEIGH AND CURBSIDE APPEAL SAYS IT ALL. I STUCK 'PAYDIRT'.. WHO EVER MADE THIS, I THANK YOU. WILL BE THE FINISHING TOUCH TO A 15 PLUS YEAR RESTORATION OF MY 1939 L7. NEW FRETS, FINISH, AND NEW STRINGS THAT TURNED MY FINGERS BLACK---YEAH!!! AND THANKS TO 'REVERB' FOR MAKING THIS CONNECTION POSSIBLE. I AM NOW A FREQUENT FLYER... KEEP ON ROCKING IN THE FREE WORLD

Purchased a Black Invader off of eBay. Basically LP style with bolt on neck. Mine is an 84 as well. Great guitar and often you can snag one for a lot less the an 84 LP or Strat! Love mine and I could live with one guitar if this was it. Thirty three years old and played hard. Ebony fretboard hardly has a divot. This is a very good guitar and considering what you can pick one up for they are a steal!

Awesome guitar! Fatter neck version. Projects like a cannon. They don't make them like this anymore. Get one while you still can.
