I've always liked the Foreman grills. They are fast and efficient. It seems the weakest point is the durability of the non-stick coating. This is our 3rd grill, each time we go up in size, but the grill keep working. We've given both away as donations, etc. I like having the temp control, I think that may even help with the non-stick wear. In our previous models everything was by 'time' while the grill was running at full heat. By being able to vary the temp it allows a lot more flexibility in cooking different dishes, especially those that need to cook well inside with less charring of the outside. Having removable plates takes care of the biggest hassle, cleaning. We also use not-stick spray and are extremely careful never to use anything harmful to the surface. Let's see if ease of cleaning as well as having lower average heat will help extend the life of the coating.Read full review
I have one of these that has lasted well over 10 years. I read online to never put plates in the dishwasher and I never have, hence why they have lasted so long. Grill works perfectly but after years of use (use at least once a week if not more), the non-stick coating reverted to stick coating on two of my most used plates. These replacement plates cost $40 a piece from George Foreman and finding them online is a real bear. It actually cost me less to buy a whole unit than two replacement plates. Granted the one I purchased was a refurbish, but I figured my old base still worked great and if I just got the new plates I was money ahead and can use the spare for parts. The refurbished one's plates look brand new, but I see why this one was sent back. The back swivel/latch doesn't stay open well. For novices who never used this grill before, someone could get burned if they are not watching as the lid could fall on your hand. But since I have used one for so long I knew what to expect and to look for. I was just so happy nothing stuck anymore! So if you purchase a refurbished one, you pretty much get what you pay for. All that aside, these are great grills, fat runs off, easy clean up and perfect for a family. I hope to get another 10 years out of this one!Read full review

Grill is easy to use and the different grilling surfaces make the grill very versatile. Be cautious about grilling bacon as the grill does not get hot enough to grill bacon to a crispy condition, and it takes about 20 minutes to complete a grilling cycle. The waffle plates work very well, and making grilled sandwiches is a snap.
George delivers the 1-2 punch again. This is our second one. We had the first one for years and something happened to it when we moved and I needed to replace the grills. Not your fault George. I tried getting parts but ended up just buying another one. We use it almost every day. It’s easy to clean and heats up quick. Great product.

Although no longer manufactured; if you can find this one new, BUY IT! This one kitchen appliance has got to be the most versatile of the 'George Foreman' line. The package comes with grill, griddle, and waffle plates. By mixing and matching the different plates, you can also make a steak grill & sandwich press. If you can find the optional "omelet plates" you can make three 1-1/2 egg omelets, 3 refrigerator dough turnovers, 3 tortilla pocket sandwiches, 3 oval-shaped southern cornpones, or 3 pigs in a blanket. Rated as 'dishwasher-safe' the most-used grill plates will start to lose their non-stick coating with about five years of continues service. To prevent this from happening; take a clean, fluffy dishtowel, fold it up, wet it down, and freeze it. Then immediately after you turn off and unplug your grill, wipe the hot grill with the frozen dishtowel. Snap, Sizzle,& Pop, your grill is Clean!Read full review
