  • Best plugs for Land Rover LR3

Land Rover says 115,000 miles for these plugs, but I'd replace them long before that to keep performance and gas mileage up.

  • Specified for Jaguar X308 Vandenplas 2000-2003 models with AJ27 engine)

Recommended by NGK as the best spark plug for this model, these laser-welded, triple-gasket plugs have iridium center electrodes and platinum ground electrodes. Gap out-of-the-box was 0.044" (1.1mm). Adjusted by mechanic to original spec, 0.039" (1.0mm) -- although it seems Jaguar later increased the regular XJ8 spec for smooth idling to 0.052" (1.3mm). The NGK OEM plugs for the VDP are now 0.048", according to the dealer. I think these would have been perfect as-is at 0.044", but in any case they're working fine -- no knocking, and almost 20mpg around the city and 24mpg highway, and the gap increases with wear.
