    Great product, bad scale

    If you’re looking for an all around fun A-Wing kit with good detailing, this is great for you. If you’re looking to add this to your 1/144 scale squadron, I wouldn’t recommend it. Now that I own several Y-Wings, X-Wings, and now A-Wings, I see that the A’s are far too large to be 1/144 scale. See photos. If keeping you true scale, the A-Wing should be roughly half the length of an X-Wing or slightly larger than the front “head” of a Y-Wing. After looking back at original trilogy materials to find the actual size of X-Wings vs A-Wings, I ran the math, converted to millimeters, and came up with the pictured (and roughly outlined) A-Wing cut out of blue painters tape (stuck to the mat). That is right around how large an A-Wing should be. Ultimately, these A-Wing kits really are fun to put together and paint, but they shouldn’t be labeled as 1/144, 1/86 or 1/72 would probably be closer to the truth.
