This is a. Good low cost introductory speaker system for your lap top computer. However i had the exact model only many years older. The quality has suffered greatly, as with most products over the years. Theres nothing like a classic model. This does serve my basic needs though.

A few years ago purchase a system about like this one. Was of very much better quality and the sound was very good. Cheap is the only word that describes this unit. Glad I saved the old will try and have it repaired.

I bought this because I needed a pair of analog speakers for my PlayStation 3 to play Rocksmith. I think this would make a great desktop computer speakers, but I was not prepared for the surprise I got from these little speakers. A typical practice amplifier for electric guitar is somewhere from 10Watts to 30Watts with single 8"-12" speaker. This 2.1 configuration has a combined of 28Watts which is not bad. It might not be able to produce sound like tube amps, but from all the digital modulation and effects capability of Rocksmith, the sound the speaker makes could easily fill the entire apartment. I only crank it to about 60% because anything more would annoy the neighbors I am sure. For the money, it's definitely worth it! Because it's such an effective tool to learn to play guitar via Rocksmith, I have not even bought a real guitar amp. Dislikes:- It does not have bass control knob, which also means if you crank it up while listening to a song with tons of bass, it will sound like broken speakers as the 4" woofer just can't woof enough. It will be loud, but it will sound like those cheap boomboxes people install in their trunks playing Euro trance musics. Secondly, the construction on the satellite speakers are cheaply made reminding you how much you are paying for them. I am not expecting to be using this to play my guitar forever of course, but when it is time for its retirement, it will be used as a computer speaker like it's meant to. Comparison: Dell AY410 is a very good contender. The price might be a little higher, but I heard the built quality is better, and has 33Watts of power, with bass volume control as well.Read full review
Great sounding speakers. However, there is no way to turn down the subwoofer. Living in a townhouse, this would have been a great feature.

I am an audiophile who primarily loves expensive headphones, but I have listened to a fair share of multimedia speakers (I pick up a lot of them at thrift stores). I have listened to both the VS2621 and its predecessor, the VS2121. The VS2621's satellites are a marked improvement over the older unit, with much more balanced sound (full-bodied midrange and decent clarity in the treble) and an adjustable tonal balance (I find it best turned about 1/4 way up from minimum). The subwoofer on the other hand is somewhat of a let-down... it actually performs worse than the sub on the VS2121 both in extension and power. All in all, a decent set for the average listener, but serious gamers or movie-lovers should look elsewhere. A used set of Logitech X-230 provides far better performance for the same price.Read full review
