Product Information

As one of the most frequently syndicated situation comedies in television history -- and reportedly one of the major influences on such later series as SEINFELD -- THE ABBOTT AND COSTELLO SHOW (1951-1953) drew enormous audiences with a format that was essentially an excuse to set up some of the titular comedy team's best-known and loved gags. It had Bud Abbott and Lou Costello playing "themselves," as unemployed actors sharing an apartment in a rooming house, surrounded by nutty neighbors; many episodes found Costello undertaking one crazy get-rich-quick scheme or another, which invariably blew up in the pair's faces. This collection presents all original 52 episodes of the program, back to back, plus bonus supplements including a "Routine Reel" from season one, a 1978 television special entitled DEAR ABBOTT, excerpts from Lou Costello's home movies, bonus interviews with Chris Costello and Paddy Costello, and much more.

    Need a laugh...then buy this !

    These old shows are great. Some of the true roots of comedy as we know it. At this point in their careers, Abbott and Costello had perfected their routines. Funny stuff !
