The VKB5 is a well balanced tool for a drummer to have
The VKB5 is a well balanced tool for a drummer to have in their arsenal. I would not suggest that this be their only beater though. I am not even certain, after one week of playing, that this would be my 'go to' beater. It's got a nice nice feel. I believe the balance in design, not generated so much by the wood shaft, but more the metal weight at the bottom of the wood securing it to the metal rod is nice. As far as Speed & Power, I don't feel it. The same doubles and triples I did with my SLUG Beater are performed with the VKB5, so no difference in speed. Power, especially for Rock, can be achieved, but for my tastes a flat head SLUG Beater delivers far more Punch from the bass drum. All in all this is a nice beater, but far from the 'WOE!" advertisement Vic Firth puts on this. Three Stars.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
