Just received this watch and initially had difficulty establishing a Bluetooth connection to my Android. After a half hour of spinning my wheels realized that deleting the prior stored phone in the watch was key to making success. Once deleted the next attempt sync to the phone was completed. Now the other aspects. Build quality and aesthetics are top notch. If you don't aspire to be Dick Tracey, this could be exactly your ticket. You can set what apps create alerts, and don't get nagged for the nuisance items. The downsides depend on your desires. Some will demand more detail so it would disappoint in this case. It is heavy and a good 1/2 inch thick. It is rated for 10 bar (330 ft,) water resistant, so swimming and snorkeling won't harm it.

The bluetooth connectivity kept disconnecting so I felt the notification features would not be reliable. I really like the idea of the feature, but I just think it would be more annoying than beneficial. I really liked the style and look of the watch, but decided to purchase a Citizen Brycen Titanium Chronograph. The Titanium was much lighter weight and without the bluetooth connectivity, I was more confident in the functions not becoming confusing or annoying.

As a background, I purchased my Citizen BZ-1000 watch mainly because of its Bluetooth synchronization functionality, but its looks were also a key factor. I mainly need this functionality for easy transition to different time zones, because I travel overseas quite frequently. I don’t need the notifications, and as a matter of fact I disabled them, so I can't comment anything about this functionality. I also have a Casio Edifice Bluetooth watch which I bought several years ago for similar purposes. Now I've had my Citizen for a little more than a month, and last week I returned from my first business trip with this watch, in which I changed time zones several times. When I first got it I managed to sync it with my phone and set the time quite easily. It took me some time to figure out how the application works, and especially how to set the second time zone, but once I did it worked as expected. I didn't sync it again for about 4 weeks and it remained quite accurate – only about 7 seconds off – though this is not surprising and what I would expect from any quartz watch. In my recent trip I found that changing the time zones is as easy as you can expect: a. Once you land, move your phone out of flight mode and wait for it to sync the time. b. Open the Citizen app. c. Push a button on the watch, and after a few seconds it changes its time zone. Overall I'm happy with my purchase, and here is what I like most about this watch: 1. Looks classy. 2. Easy to sync with my phone and set to different time zones. 3. Eco-Drive technology, which charges from light and doesn't need battery replacement. 4. Has date and day indications with a perpetual calendar. 5. Has a 24-hour dial. 6. Has a battery level indicator. A few points that could have been better: 1. In some light conditions the mode selection sub-dial at the bottom can be confused with one of the main dials and looks like it's pointing at 6 O'clock, and this makes it slightly harder to determine the time at a glance. 2. The Seconds hand and day-of-the-week sub-dial are blue while the watch face is black, which is not the best contrast and makes it harder to see them. 3. It would be nice to have a sub-dial for the second time zone with an option to switch the two with a push of a button – the Casio Edifice Bluetooth watches all have this functionality. 4. Right after you sync the watch its time is about one second behind that of the phone (which is the accurate time). Read full review

I chose the Black dial with blue hands, nice and not visibly LOUD like the model with the green hands, which would have been an interesting topic of discussion. IT was new, with tags, very LARGE at Dia. 45mmx15mm thick for my 7" wrist. New, but it did not come with a Manual, so I guess it's downloadable like most Citizen Watch User guides, I didn't like the Bracelet which, with full links, was AS heavy as the watch! So I changed it to a 20" rubber strap with new spring pins. Could I have selected the other model PRYZYM, yes, but I didn't like that Crystal sticking out that far from the Case. Is there a problem with Bluetooth Sync to Samsung Android? Not noticeable, but in time we'll see.

Watch is a little bigger than i expected. It fits comfortable. Bluetooth feature is handy for mostly setting features on the watch, since it loses connection easily. Quality of the watch is excellent, feels like a well made piece.

The Citizen Eco-Drive Proximity Bluetooth I purchased was an excellent value and quite stylish. I love the Eco-Drive feature for its freedom of needing a battery change for the watch. This is is my 4th Eco-Drive watch and the price point for this watch wad great. The set-up of the watch too a little while but can be easily performed with the online Citizen Watch set-up guide or even through the multitude of videos on the web. I'm handy in the watch band adjustment but spend a few dollars to have this done by a watch repair jeweler due to the cost saving for the watch. Once the watch band is adjusted, its not too heavy or light on the wrist. The concession to Bluetooth takes a little effort but again is easily performed with the online guide. Overall, the buying experience was easy and the feedback from friends who have seen the watch on my wrist has been wonderful.Read full review

Pairing with my phone via bluetooth is flawless. I have not had any of the problems that many other reviewers have mentioned about the watch dropping connection frequently. Mine easily stays connected to my phone for 6+ hours at a time. My phone's battery does die a little bit faster, so I'm probably not going to leave it connected all of the time, but it works and I have left it connected all day long for three days now. It actually vibrates before my phone does when I get a text message, somehow. I always keep my phone in 'Maximum Power Saving Mode' and I did not add a 'power-saving exclusion' for the app (to let it use all the battery power it wants and always stay active in the background etc), yet it stays connected just fine. (I am using Android, and many of the negative reviews came from two or more years ago. Not sure if they company themselves have fixed the problem since then or if my 2022 phone is just better than their 2016-2019 phones or if I'm just a nerd who can fix things without realizing it.) Took me a couple of hours to memorize the instruction manual, but it's straightforward *enough* in my opinion. (Note at the end about finding the manual) When I took it out of the box, it was in 'power saving mode', and the hands were facing straight up to noon. As soon as I exposed it to a moderately bright light so that I could get a closer look at it, the hands sprang to life and started spinning to the most accurate time it knew. It was two days and a few hours behind, but it fixed itself AS SOON AS i opened the app on my phone and pressed the top button on the watch. It came with 3/4 bars of battery life. Had to charge it to 4/4 bars of battery, using a small grow light (make sure not to overheat the watch while charging it!) overnight (8 hrs) before it would let me upgrade the watch's firmware and access all of the app's features, such as setting the alarm or time zone. I could see the 'light indicator', where it shows how much light its solar panels are processing into electricity, though it was obscured by the 'PLEASE UPDATE FIRMWARE' pop-up. I found the maximum (red glow = max, blue = none/least) and then brought the light away until it turned slightly pink, made sure the watch wasn't getting hot from the light, and went to bed. Once it reached four bars of battery life, updating the firmware was as easy as clicking 'yes'. I work in a restaurant. Sometimes I wait tables, and sometimes I wash dishes. A lot of dishes. This thing has spent three shifts on my wrist, has withstood plenty of time either underwater or on the receiving end of a steamy-water spray hose ("testing and cleaning", i call it), and I've even operated the buttons and crown while the watch was wet (not advisable!) in order to operate the chronograph and to dismiss text message alerts (though not at the same time - chronograph mode disables bluetooth features temporarily). I am Not Gentle with my watches. If a watch makes it through the first week on my wrist, then it will probably last me many years. My previous Citizen Eco-Drive watch has lasted me 8 years so far under similar situations, and I expect this one to last at least as long as well - I only upgraded because I wanted a chronograph, and found this monstrosity. (The round part of the watch is 43mm or so. The buttons come out another 3mm and the crown comes out 4mm, thus forming the advertised case width of 46mm. The lug-to-lug width is about 55mm. I was afraid of it being too big for my rather small wrists, but I actually really like it, even though it weighs a third of a pound even after removing links to make it fit me snugly. I think it 'wears smaller' than it is, by a little bit. Any bigger would be too big but I'm glad I took the gamble and bought this.) Note: My watch didn't come with an instruction manual. Yours might. If not, google "citizen w770 instruction manual" and it should be the first result. I did not have as much luck when googling variants of "citizen eco drive proximity instruction manual", but it shows up that way too. Final note: If you delete the phone's profile from the watch (TME->fully extend crown->hold top button 7 seconds->second hand spins once to confirm that the profile has been deleted), you ALSO need to remove/'forget' the watch ("w770") on your phone's Bluetooth Devices page. Otherwise it will try and fail to connect and might look broken unless you switch to a different profile (this should make more sense if you're reading the instruction manual). I have seen other reviews where people had that problem and apparently did not fix it. Fairly simple fix though really.Read full review

I have several Eco Drive Watches and this watch is as well made as my others. Pairing the watch to my phone was easy (via the app). It has been fiddly to get the different alert settings to work and if I am honest, it can be difficult to workout when you have an alert. Hence giving a 4 start rating.

Brand new CITIZEN proximity with tags. papers / original pack is available. The watch is pretty stylish. good valued compared to its price. the only concern about its waight (500 gm) which is quite heavy. but overall very attractive, smart mechanism, smart tech. such as motorized watch, eco drive by light charging as you will never change the battery. double time by one click on your Citizen App. bluetooth connection. memory for Alarm. AMAZING time piece. I like it very much.

great purchase and value. Attractive eye catching watch. I have not completely finished watch set-up since I had to download the manual but that is due to my time constraints.
