Turning great Stones. Tom Selleck's Jesse Stone collection.
This is for the Jesse Stone addict who needs to revisit the series on a frequent basis. I have always rated these movies as some of the best of American TV, far excelling the others of the genre. Good actor selection, beaut locations, nice clipped dialogue and well adapted from the original Robert B. Parker novels. They do the job for me. So much better than TV
Jesse Stone played by Tom Selleck is a masterful portrayal of a seemingly simple, but actually quite complex character. To watch the nine movies in order on DVD is the best way to experience and understand the hidden complexities. Unlike the TV broadcast, the DVD’s have crisp, clear sound and high definition imagery. In my opinion one of the best screen stories and portrayals possible with Tom Selleck ably supported by a great cast, stunning photography and an almost terse yet spot-on script. When you finish watching the collection you will be itching to see more episodes. Down to earth believable collection with Tom Selleck as the lead but I have to say some times the scenes with the dog makes you look for that box of tissues. Where is the sequel? Just finished watching the Jesse Stone Collection and thought it was brilliant. The part was made for Tom Selleck and I reckon he was just acting natural for the role. A tight script, excellent acting by all concerned, and each and every episode left you waiting for more. The episode featuring Mimi Rodgers as a lawyer was a bottler. A shame she wasn't in further shows. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed Jesse Stone and the only negative feedback is will there be a further series?
