I purchased this Receiver Brand New in 2010 and it has been in the Shop twice now! The models from this era sound great, have several incredible functions, but all are notorious for the HDMI Boards to eventually fail. You get no picture. The first time I had it repaired, it was out of warranty and Onkyo still repaired it for free. I had to send it in and pay postage for one way shipping, but they paid for the return shipping. They had it almost 2 months. I was told that the board was a newer version of the older one. This was in 2014. Then it happened again and I had a dealer in Dallas repair it and it didn’t take as long, but it is a 2 hour drive and it wasn’t cheap to repair either. Like 250.00 and add gas and it was $300 at least. It finally bit the bullet last week and it’s my last Onkyo product I will ever buy! If you own an Anthem Receiver from Best Buy, it’s the same thing as the Onkyo product, just branded for Best Buy! I expected a much better experience from a supposedly reputable company! This thing brand new was like $800.00 and it has a lot of bells and whistles that many other models didn’t have at the time. I did try and contact Onkyo to see if I could buy the part, as if I can get it working , it’ll give me time to save up for a Marantz 11.2 DTS Preamp and the 11 channel amp to match it!Read full review

I needed a network/HDMI capable audio receiver with multi-channel analog inputs & outputs. It seems that only the combination of HDMI inputs and a Bluray player reading from USB can deliver HI-DEF Multi-Channel FLAC files to my big electrostatic speakers. This used 2010 unit has provided me with all the functionality of the newest ONKYOs (except onboard Bluetooth and WiFi) at a fraction of the price. Given the high rate of HDMI Board heat failures on this particular vintage, I had worried about reliability but ONKYO confirmed the Seller’s testimony that it had been refurbished. The unit arrived very well packed and has been in nearly continuous operation for several weeks while I’ve worked my way deep into the configuration. Thanks for an honest and trouble-free transaction.

Excellent home theater receiver with exceptional sound quality. One of few that still has pre-outs for an external amp. Also runs Windows Media Player with all my music from my home PC. I replaced my old TX-NR708 with this one. Unit was in pristine condition and works flawlessly.

After reading many reviews I decided to buy my first av/receiver and it was a great choice. I am not an expert, easy to set up, great sound, great conectivity. For sure I would recommend this product I am using it with my hd sony, ps3 and a 7.1 onkyo speaker system.
