max headroom is a visionary, wickedly smart tv series. i've been waiting for a boxed set on this acclaimed 80's icon. there are no negatives to this product except that i wish it endured more than one year. edison carter was an anti-hero of sorts. he was the maverick reporter for Channel 23 news. i do wish the original pilot was included in this 5 dvd set. i have no ill will towards the producers of Max Headroom. this science fiction drama exceeded my expectations. the cast was stellar. amanda pays was the sidekick to edison's rogue comemntary. jeffery tambor played the director of programming. reg had a sarcastic demeanor. i will have to resort towards the rest of the ensemble for more details. say goodnight max.

I have been waiting for this series to be released for a long time, and decided to buy myself a Christmas present. A real treat-t-t, as Max would say! This show is quirky, oddball, and funny, although somewhat uneven in quality, but, I still love it after all these years. The evil corporate giant vs. the little guy , who just happens to be an employee who constantly exposes greed and corruption--and is such a moneymaker, they can't fire him! And no one can control Max, even his human alter ego. What fun! The computer and video technology as represented in the series appears very primitive now, but it fits in with the funky atmosphere of the show. I haven't watched all the episodes, but so far, the sound and picture quality of these DVDs is very good, much better than the original series. I would recommend these to anyone who who likes dark humor and an Everyman trying to maintain some humanity in a bleak future.Read full review

It's scary how relevant some of the issues raised in this series still are today. It was such a trendsetter in 1987 and it was just as fascinating to watch again in 2020. A series dedicated to not only poking fun at but raising the alarm about the corrosive and corruptible power of the media. And they did it all with a wonderful mix of humor and drama. I think this series should be revamped with today's issues and put right back on the air. Seriously, it would speak volumes for us today. I highly recommend this for anyone's library. It's a keeper!

One of the best TV shows of all time, and 40+ years later it turns out to have been prescient. If you liked Terry Gilliam's "Brazil," you'll love Max Headroom. I know that it probably wasn't original, but one thing that Max said is particularly relevant to today: "And then there's politicians. It's easy to tell when a politician is lying: their lips move." Looks like you survived the current round of political whoppers, or you wouldn't be reading this. Stay safe -- stay inside. Be well.

Original pilot (British) 20 Minutes into the Future, was dark and gritty with lots of adult language; not for the kiddies. The American version was cleaned up significantly, but still told a good story. A must see for anyone who enjoys a Dystopian society tale, with lots of innuendos on the ruling Corporations.

This TV program was ahead of its time. A Talking Head , just like all newscasters that present the news today .
