Most of the time, this film leaves you wishing you could just help these people get out of that hole they were put in to by this inquisitive psycho. Written by L.D. Goffigan and directed by Steven Hentges, the film gets off to a eerie and creepy atmospheric start. The beginning of the film was extremely discomforting because it starts in total darkness with people screaming. Lori Heuring stars as a doctor trapped in a well along with other selected victims, chosen for a madman's human behavior experiments to determine how they will contend with having no food, their bodies desire for sustenance slowly demanding nourishment. Linden Ashby, Joe Egender, Lea Kohl, and Julian Rojas round out the cast of suffering humans About 3 minutes into the film, the director eventually gets around to adding night vision to the viewers as well as an overhead lamp later on down the road. The whole gist of this film revolves around five people from various walks of life that are somehow kidnapped and held inside an underground dungeon/well. As we have seen in the past, the Saw serious of films does exactly the same thing to their victims, except in this case, there is really no tape left or really no explanation given to the victims. It seems that the perpetrator is only interested in finishing his experiment at any cost. Later on upon discovery of the overhead lights, the five move into another well like enclosure and discover the fact that they are give 4 barrels of drinking water, yet nothing to eat. The discomforted victims figure out on their own that there is a clock on the wall that counts down the days. If memory serves me right, it counts down past 45 days, meaning to them that they are going to be stuck down there for a very long time. It turns out that a scientist (Bjorn Johnson) is the experimenter here. Although it never really tells us why he is torturing these people, but it must have something to do with his own curiosity. As an adolescent, the now grown psycho experimenter, had been trapped in a car which ran off a cliff. During his confinement within the isolated and undiscovered automobile, the experimenter had to resort to eating his mother's remains for sustenance. This must be the reason we now see him conducting his sick experiment on these five humans, all of which had something to do with murder except for one. Lea Kohl, as Anna, is quite chilling when she admits, in a cold and heartless manner, how she convinced Alex(Rojas) to kill Grant(Ashby) so easily, with Jordan(Heuring) having to endure her testimony restrained. At about the 24th day, the group finally does the unthinkable ganging up on the one who admits he is sick and dying. Besides the cannibalism and bloodletting which on their own are disturbing, the experimenter's enjoyment at seeing his subjects tearing themselves apart may be even more sick and twisted. Johnson has a wall with photographs and written information about each subject proving that he took special care in which people would be trapped in his dungeon. He underestimates Jordan, though, who retains her humanity and outsmarts her monstrous peers. Surprisingly, after her hunger for food was satisfied, Anna (Lea Kohl in her debut) proceeded to satisfy another hunger with Grant (Linden Ashby). Overall the sheer screaming & argumentation was enough to unnerve anyone, but don't try and watch this if you are a bit sleepy because it's not enough to keep you awake because its becomes way too predictable.Read full review
When forced into the most extreme situations how far would you go before losing your own humanity, would you do anything to survive another day? This movie is about five strangers who awaken to find themselves trapped in an underground dungeon. They soon realize they are the subjects of one mans sadistic experiment to test the depths of a human beings will to survive. As the days go by with no means of escape, their hunger increases as their humanity fades away. As a fan of movies involving cannibalism and movies about the dead rising from the grave to eat the living this film was a must have for me. All the elements are there from the breakdown of humanity into a twisted mental state of confusion to the consumption of human flesh from their murder victims. The characters in this movie I felt were believable as ordinary people who discover that they have something in common with each other, and then are thrust into a situation beyond their control as they slowly, mentally and psychologically break down into sheer insanity. And with all the blood and gore to please all horror fans plus with the talented and superb acting in this film definitely makes this one, Gem of a Movie!Read full review

I did not like it so much the film is a not good copy of the tests on the " Saw " series but it is basically only 1 test and this test is not seen in these 7 films , and the bad guy does not really want that somebody survives. As you can easily guess the female protagonist survives(?) in the end but the story although not supernatural it is not realistic at all. The special effects are BAD as the playing of some actors
