Inside Germany 1933 to 1941
This book provides a clear view of the life of part of the Jewish community in Dresden during the 3rd Reich. Translated from the diaries written at the time, at great personsl risk, it largely ignores the great events and concentrates on the increasing day to day struggles. There is no attempt to justify actions or to present events with the benefit of hindsight, just the mundanity of life under the nazis in the reich which is what makes it so compelling.
If you enjoy this book then I would strongly recommend the sequel 'To the Bitter End'.
To appreciate the struggles of the Jewish people in 3rd Reich Germany this book is a must.
