second hand means second quality
I know it is a second hand unit, I DO NOT care the box with mark and stain. But it only work once then failed. Remote control is unable to turn on the player, even the switch button failed on the unit. Only one way to know it was a blu-ray player, unplug power supply cable from rear and plug it again. Excellent blu-ray and Media player
Blu-ray playback - Fast loading & impressive video quality. DVD upscaling is also impressive. Media player - It plays ALL the video & audio formats I have. It is a superb media player. Included Apps - Plenty of Apps came with the player. Many FREE movie sites as well. Furthermore, you get SBS on Demand, ABC iView & Channel Ten catch up. You can download Sideview Apps to your smart phone or ipad & use it as a remote is a good bonus. Negative - It only comes with RCA digital output & no optical output (optical is the more common digital connection on HDMI-less equipment). Deal breaker - As this player does not have a display panel, you can't see the track number you are playing when you replay CD or FLAC format. You have to turn on the TV display to view this. Most inconvenient if I connect the HDMI out to my surround sound amplifier & play back through the system. Wished Sony could update Sideview App so that a status display could be shown on the smart phone. Not a problem with video play back as you have to turn the TV on anyway & pressing the display button on the remote would show the status on the TV screen. Great BD Player
Very happy with this BD player. Compact, and looked to be brand new. Played all file types I threw at it. Easy to setup with wireless. Great UI. Bought for my 78 year old Mum and she loves it despite being a technophobe. Thanks again Sony. Easy and reliable Blueray player.
Good player with older but good User interface. No wireless but can be connected to router using cable for internet to do same job as more expensive BDP 5500. By changing and using DNS redirect (getflix etc) can access BBC, Amazon and hulu apps in Australia. Overall good and inexpensive player. Great value in a universal disc player
As a seasoned buyer of factory refurbished electronics, I was not disappointed with two of these Sony Blu-ray players at a great price. The BDSPS3500 plays everything except 3D Blu-rays and does it simply, fast and well. It is also a smart player with built-in wifi receiver for streaming programing from the internet. Both the wifi and the video processor are fast enough to watch HD films from Netflix (which has its own button on the remote) without a glitch.
