a funky/disco star wars! c'mon, what's not to like? i'm old & remember when this was actually released. young 'uns could never fathom the incredible impact 'star wars' had in '77. it touched every corner of society. rock stations played the cantina band theme from the original soundtrack between zeppelin n pink floyd for heck sake! yes the '70's were as goofy as they seem on 'that 70's show'. buy this disc, pull out your bongos & chiante & party!

The track "Star Wars Theme / Cantina Band" was the first 7" single I bought when I was a kid back in '78 and is still a lot of fun to listen to today. However the entire album is fun to listen to as it pretty peppy, upbeat and a a good play on the original Star Wars soundtrack (with the exception of "Other Galactic Funk"). "Other Galactic Funk" is the most under rated track on the album. It is 12 minutes of several styles of jazz funk (contains no Star Wars themes) all rolled into one that keeps your interest throughout the entire track and still leaves you wanting to hear more.
Had this on vinyl when it first came out. Lost track of it, only had copy on cassette. Now on cd, great!!!

I bought the Meco Star Wars Theme CD and loved it. I had the 33rpm record of it many years ago. I heard it for the first time since the late 80s on YouTube. But it was the short version. This CD had all of the tracks on it but especially the long version. Listening to this brought back good memories of old times. I would recommend this CD to anyone. People who don't particularly like orchestra music would still like this one. It has a great dance beat.
When you're my age there's always a desire to listen to music that appealed to you when you were much younger. I'd listened to this music in younger times and, to tell the truth, hadn't really thought of it till I saw a listing on ebay and I immediately purchased it and could hardly wait to listen to it again. Needless to say the day the disc arrived I put it into my CD player at work, plugged in my earphones, and was drawn back into memories from that time period. The music is still as fresh as it was back then and brought back a ton of great memories, not to mention old songs from that era as well. I highly recommend this disc to all that might be interested. It puts a 'classic slant' on the John Williams' music of Star Wars and is definitely well worth listening to. James Farmer Greenville, MississpiipRead full review
