Not only reflecting the 60s zeitgeist by demonstrating the BBC's role in expanding popular music, this collection is a searching sample of what worked well for The Who and what not quite didn't, proving it was far more than a covers band. It also, on some of the obscure tracks, demonstrates Pete Townsend's ability to play more than just memorable riffs by expanding into very tasty extemporizing. As usual, the rest of the band is excellent.
