Not hard to use, you can still download manuals from Apple on how to use this item in case you need help. Most frustrating was that I could not download podcasts off iTunes, but once going onto the internet, I found how to download the podcast app that was appropriate for the IOS that is loaded on the iPod. So there are some frustrating moments, but with a little research, the iPod does everything I need for it to do. As for the battery life, not sure what long is, it's enough for me, and I have learned that if I turn off the open apps, the battery life lasts a lot longer than if I don't turn off the apps. Sound quality is better with headphones. I use this mostly to listen to You Tubes, podcasts, audiobooks and music, and occasionally to read emails.

Plays music thru my Bose Perfectly! Apple cut off updates at 6.1.6 which basically means the apple store has just about absolutely nothing that can be downloaded to work on this unit. Yahoo weather furnished by apple just locks up, it took me quite a while to go thru all the weather apps on the apple store to find just on Weather app that the developer allows to work somewhat on 6.1.6 It appears apple supplied weather app is no longer supported by Yahoo. Planned obsolescence by Apple!!!!!!! And this IOS Will not allow Audible. com books in AAX format to load Audible com books for listening, they must be downloaded to a computer and then each AAX file converted to AAC or MP3! A lot of work to be able to listen to audio books. Such a simple little thing and apple is making no money on this product any longer so no update to expand useage!Read full review

Battery life not so great, but overall I love this IPod, especially the size taht allows me to carry it without even realizing I've got it. So for no problems with the apps. but htis remains to be seen as I'm going to do some serious downloading soon envolving medical apps for Nursing school, I don't fore see any problems. Can't say enough about how great the size is. Of course the speaker pretty much sux, but I purchased it aware of this, and have some pretty good Buds that help.(ear buds that is) Plenty of storage with, and I highly recommend the 64GB model, especially since it has no expandability possibilities, such as a SD card or mem. stick Probability that is my biggest and worst complait and dislike about the Touch. Still got to rate it 98-100 overall.Had bought a Palm first, nothing but problems trying to load it and use it. Throwed it up in the closet, useless and wasted money.Tried everything was told to by suppoert still never operated very well,Live and learn, stay with the best IPod- To bad it is tied to I-Tunes.Read full review
An excellent Apple product :)!! It has a thin, colorful body and the Retina screen is amazing. The apps are excellent and work fast. FaceTime can lag slightly sometimes, but it's great for having a chat with one of your friends :D (I'm stuck on FaceTime all the time!!). iMessage is another great way of communicating with friends over Wi-Fi, since the iPod doesn't have calls or texting. The camera is OK, but could improve. The video camera is great, and it's HD! The music player is just the best! Great sound quality, and it is so easy to find a song, especially whn you have a load of songs! Overall, an AMAZING device that has fun written all over it!
I bought this as a replacement for the previous model, and the features are EXCELLENT! Being a touch screen, everything is so easy to use, especially for a non-techie. The thinness is impressive, the screen display is beautiful; games and TV shows are a pleasure on this Ipod. I've surprised myself how much I use the camera, didn't think I would, but it's so EASY, and the close-up ability makes picture-taking irresistable. I love being able to download the photos to my computer, then send them to my other Ipods. Which brings me to the problem. I'm quite disappointed by the lack of battery life. Having had other Ipod Touches, 32 GB and 64 GB, and using them daily for music, Internet, games and watching downloaded shows, I've gotten used to battery life that is double what this little guy offers. I was shocked the first time I got the '20%' warning onscreen; I'd hardly started playing my game, it seemed, and I had charged it fully before using it. I use it for pictures and only play music when it is hooked to a 'player'; same for shows and games..the battery life is too short to carry with me, I'm using my old one as a carry-around.Read full review
Body: Aside from moving the sleep button to the right and making the back of the device slimmer and more flat, not much has changed. Yes, the chrome back is still there erg! It was so pretty for the first 30 seconds. Ram: The Ram on the iPod Touch is only 256 MB, so do not believe the talk of 512 MB, it is simply not true. Wireless: Fully supports A/B/G/N Vibration: There is no vibration, so do not expect that. Multitasking: Works real well and very smooth transition Display: While the display on the iPod is not IPS like the iPhone do not think it suffers in anyway. This display is so beautiful and crisp to look at. I cannot even distinguish the pixels, and text on a website is like you are reading out of a book, it's so refreshing. I played a digital copy of "UP" on here and the colors practically jump off the screen, very nice. Apple's icons are so much more vivid and sharp, while 3rd party developer icons who have yet to make an upgrade for the new displays shows what a step up this new screen has to offer. Speaker: I am not sure of the quality of the speaker on the 3G iPod Touch, but on my 2G iPod Touch it was very tinny and I only used it for game sound. Here on the 4G there is a new spot on the bottom left for the speaker and it has risen in clarity. Music is very listenable and clear, however nothing replaces a good set of earbuds, but when you're in a jam, you won't be gritting your teeth with this speaker. Processor: The new Apple processor is a sure win for this device. Everything loads very fast and switching from one screen to another is very swift and smooth. Crash Bandicoot finally has a nice framerate to play with on this iPod and for once I did not regret buying that game. Front Camera: This is the camera that is primarily used for Facetime. It's resolution is at 640 X 480. After taking a few pictures with it, you will notice how it is really not for taking stills, but works fine for videochatting (which I have not tried, but did run some video tests with it). Obviously Facetime will work better in well lit areas, but then again, doesn't any camera? Rear Camera: Again stills are just so so. What really bugs me is when you go to take a picture, you see how crisp the preview is, then you take the picture and you can see it blur. The tap to focus works nice for adjusting exposure and well lit photos look very decent on the display. It's when you upload them to your computer when you notice how not so decent they actually are. While this may be a negative for many people, if you are like me, you want to just upload photos with this device to FaceBook and capture funny moments with the video camera. If I want to take a really awesome picture, I'll pull out my DSLR, but for me this iPod's capabilities are more than adequate for my quick shooting of certain events. The video captures quite nicely, while not superb like an actual HD camcorder does enough for me for again, capturing fun moments. Don't worry, you don't cringe while watching the video, it's more than adequate and produces vibrant colors and a fast framerate. Some may complain on this, and believe me those reviews will be here shortly, but then again why not buy an HD Camcorder that is made for HD content? (I'm not ignorant to HD quality either, I'm a huge fan of it. I run a 3D 65'' 1080p display with Blu-ray and Dolby Tru-HD decoding surround sound system) Microphone: Testing out Skype my friend told me I was coming in loud and clearRead full review
This of course is a nice piece of technology. Expensive, but nice. Too this for my hands. Always feels like I'm going to drop it because of its small size. I purchased as a gift for my daughter and of course she LOVES it, and her hands are much smaller. The two buttons on the side are a little difficult to push because you are holding the ipod as you push them (with one hand) and because they are on the side at an angle it is not a direct pressure on the button. Purchased the 64GB model so there would be plenty of space for a teenager. Overall if you can purchase a 64 GB for under $300.00 at today's prices I'd say you got a deal. Submitted 03/17/11
I've owned three (all used) iPods starting with a 60GB iPod Photo, 64GB iPod Touch 3G, and now an iPod Touch 4G. I read about the high resolution "retina" display, and was mildly interested in the now included HD cameras. The third generation Touch has an 18-bit 480×320 resolution display while the "retina" display has a 24-bit 960×640 display. The result of the new display is that it is much more crisp and clear. This isn't apparent in all apps, especially older apps that only work at the older resolution. But for newer apps the level of detail is amazing. The LED backlighting also makes the picture much brighter. Compared to the iPhone 4 the picture washes out when viewed from an angle, but does it really matter when you alone are looking at it? The video recording is surprisingly good quality recording a 720p video on a one mega-pixel camera. Having a built in microphone is a nice feature now included. Compared to a standalone HD camcorder it's not the best, but I have a hard time seeing pixelation in recordings I take of my kids. The video records at 30 fps and has a fairly small file size which is great. Compared to my three megapixel camera phone the video is much much better on the iPod Touch, while the pictures are better on the camera phone. For gaming the display is very clear and playing games like Need for Speed Hot Pursuit are great. My only gripe is against the device not having any dedicated buttons for gaming as the motion and touch control can be frustrating at times. With that said there are a lot of inexpensive and free casual apps that look and play great on this device. My only other gripe about the iPod Touch is the battery life. I was amazed to find that from a full charge left on overnight the battery was dead the next morning. The fix was simple, turn off the wireless. Simply go into the Settings menu and turn on "Airplane Mode". This will turn off all wireless communication from the touch and significantly conserve the battery life. I can now have the battery last days if I remember to turn off the wireless when I am not using it. Also turning off the "Push" feature on apps and mail will limit the wireless usage when turned on. In conclusion, the iPod Touch 4 is a great update to Apple's growing line of iPods and has come a long way from being just an MP3 jukebox. For someone wanting the functionality of an iPhone without the phone or data plan, the current iPod Touch is a great alternative. I have Wifi everywhere I use it and being able to check personal and company email, listen to music, browse the web, take and view HD movies and pictures, play casual games, and use a variety of applications are just a few reasons the iPod Touch is a worthwhile device.Read full review
I really like the iPod touch 4th gen. Why? I still have devices that use the 30 pin connector. I use it strictly for music. The battery life could be better, but I keep my fully charged for the most part. I am not an apple fan, but this product along with how iTunes interfaces with it is really good. It is sad that apple is going to discontinue the iPod all together. I don't want every frickin' thing to be on my phone.

This is truly an amazing product, & Apple are going from strength-to-strength. So many more features than the last model, including camera & video, free messaging to other Apple device users & Facetime is simply awesome! (dependent on wifi). The only thing I would otherwise mention, is that beware if you are purchasing from another country, as even though this is absolutely not the fault of the seller, the whacking great tax bill of 60 pounds sterling by customs meant that I didn't make that great a saving in the end. Nevertheless, I did make a saving, & am throughly happy with my purchase.
