This is a really small, lightweight scanner & does a good job... from my husband's Linux computer. Not so great for using with my Mac running Yosemite. Looked everywhere for drivers and downloaded a couple for the Mac, but nothing works. So I'll just scan from my husband's machine and sneakernet it over to mine. Otherwise, nice image capture and easy to use user interface.

I bought this scanner because I have one of the same model that has served me well for about two years. This scanner is at my office. I'm starting a small business, but cannot afford a copier. So, I use the scanner, a computer and printer to take its place. It's a little slower than a copier, but works as well in most cases. I like this scanner since it is easy to use and t's powered from the USB cable. There's one less cord to add to the tangle of wires. I would recommend this model to anyone want a simple to use scanner with user friendly software
Item was as described and it works perfect besides having a few cosmetic scuffs, but the glass and other important pieces were in perfect condition. I converted mine into a face-down scanner for large maps by removing the cover and shaving down the plastic around the edges, so the glass can lie flat. Once I got it squared away it works great! Also Canon doesn't provide any software for this anymore, but it works with the scan and fax application that came on my laptop (Windows Scan and Fax). The one complaint is that it did not come with a cord, but this wasn't a real issue because its the same port as tons of android cell phones from around 2008-20015 so I had a couple just lying around that I didn't use any more.

This is my second LiDE90 to be used on a second desktop system. The unit is easy to set up and provides excellent quality scans, including photos. The software could be a little more robust, but still performs all the essential functions well. The lack of an AC power supply is a big plus with no brick and plug to worry about as this unit is fully USB powered. I have another brand of about the same age as the LiDE90 that I am removing, because of the superior performance of this compact, lightweight unit.
I bought this as an upgrade to my LiDE 50 a bit grumpily because Canon did not issue a driver for Windows 7, 64 bit and I couldn't get any of the suggested work-arounds on various sites to work either. I was reluctant to go with another line because I much prefer the single USB cable models - meaning no mini-brick AC adapter to draw electricity for all the times I'm not using the scanner. I am extremely pleased with the speed and clarity of the scans. The PDF scan and the ability to combine PDF scans into a single larger document has been a wonderful upgrade. I'd buy this model again in a heartbeat.
My wife is visually impaired (blind) and uses this particular scanner to read books and other printed material. She uses a program that scans and converts text so that it can be read by someone who is visually impaired. While the CanoScan LiDE 90 is out dated, its TWAIN drivers are the most compatable with her scan program. These scanners are difficult to find and we were fortunate to find a used one on eBay. This is a great scanner due to its compatibility with the program "Open Book."
excellent scanner...easy to use...

Has lots of capabilities but all I wanted it for was to plain old scan. It's done a nice job with my Windows 7.
