This a really great calculator that still holds up to this day. It can do 3D graphing and you can type down notes with the keyboard. It's a really strong and hefty device that will serve you well. Although the screen is dim, the contrast isn't the sharpest and can be hard to see compared to other monochrome LCD displays.

Wonderful and capable calculator but in the TI-92 the display is a little dim. The display was improved in the TI-92 Plus and Voyage 200, this is why I recommend expend a little more money and get one of these two last models.

As the title says the ti-92 is a bit large but what it lacks in portability it makes up for in functionality. I am not aware of any other hand-held calculator that is able to display 3-dimensional graphs. But the size is certainly prohibitive, the size and the look, it looks like something that you that you would pull out and it would do all of your math for you. It is for this reason that I DO NOT recommend it to anyone other than a college student, the teachers won't let you use it. (I've tried several times and every time the teacher has told me to "Put it away please.")
I liked the calculator, however most seller use a description for at TI-92 Plus so be aware and check with the seller to make sure what you are bidding on. A TI-92 plus has more memory and the Plus model is said to be more flexible. Great calculator came with booklet and is very useful in programming in equations and graphs. Great calculator for someone that is taking AP calculus or college level trig or other higher level math students: Functions work very well but the end user needs to be familiar with TI calculator’s inputs. The applications are a kick as well and the user should have a handle on TI-Basic as well. Be aware that most entry test, SAT and ACT do not allow this calculator for testing and some math teacher will not allow it used for testing as well. Even for a discontinued model it still a great buy if you can get if for a good deal.Read full review
My rating is based upon the state of technology at the time this calculator was released. Hardware wise, this is the big screen version of the TI-98 CAS calculator. They are both MC68000 based and run the same OS and apps. The TI-92 Plus is an upgrade from the straight TI-92. The contrast was improved, and it has more memory. Some people do not like that it is rather big and a bit clunky, but its performance and querty keyboard make it an outstanding CAS grapher. I use mine for 68000 assembly language programming, since I have since moved on to later model CAS graphers from TI. A final note: If you are looking for an inexpensive CAS graphing calculator, do not hesitate to buy this one. It will serve you well up through the calculus string and beyond.
